Three Little Words

"Okay baby, I need to go," Nat said, not that Y/N had any interest in her lately. She was weird when she returned last Sunday, a little distant but she still threw her leg over her when they got into bed and demanded a kiss as soon as she woke up.

Nat kissed her lips but Y/N didn't kiss her back. She flashed a barely there smile, a forced one as far as Nat could tell.

"Kiss me back," Nat joked kissing her again, "Kiss me back," She tickled at her sides to make her laugh.

It was impossible for Y/N not to, It had even brightened her mood a bit and made her forget that she was keeping a big secret. She kissed her back like she meant it and when she pulled back she smiled at her pretty face, which softened more every day. She kissed her again.

"Maybe I should just stay here with you," Nat said, not wanting to leave her. She feared that in her time alone she would realize that Nat is not what she wants. It was also the growing fear that it was their last moment together, that in seconds the Avengers would burst in and she would have to reveal herself as a traitor.

The elevator doors opened but they didn't make an effort to move from their close position. Only Harley ever came up on Sundays and she already knew about them.

"If it isn't the ambitious whore," Lisa says condescendingly.

"Okay, I'm leaving," Nat rolls her eyes and turns around, ignoring Lisa.

"Lisa," Y/N warns her as the doors close.

"What?" She shrugs, having already made herself comfortable on the couch, "You know what I think of her, sooner or later you're going to be a wreck over her and she won't give a shit. You won't realize it until it's happened but that's why you have me," She smiles.

"We're just sleeping together Lisa," Y/N tried to reason.

"Is that your choice or hers?" She asks, Y/N didn't respond. She liked Nat, she felt that it was more than just sleeping together but if she admit that to herself it would make her expectations go high and Nat obviously didn't want the same thing. "Listen, babe, I've learned that your type is like a tortured, abusive soul, but you're an adult now. You need someone who can settle down, you know someone who could actually meet your parents without getting fired," She jokes.

"My dad likes her, she's actually moved up faster than any of his other employees. I'm sure there are worse options than Nataly Rushman," She defends.

"I told Rory," She admits.

"Told Rory what?"

"About her and you, and what she does to you."

"She doesn't do anything to me anymore Lisa," Y/N says softly. "and stop talking about me to Rory. She only uses it against me in the end."

"what tells you she won't do it again?" She circles back.

"Lisa-"

"No, answer the question. What? she stops beating on you and suddenly you're in love? you forget?"

"It isn't like that, it's just- you won't get it," She gives up.

"Try me, make me understand you," Lisa pleaded.

"Did you just come up here to make me feel bad about my relationship?" She asks, fleeing towards the kitchen.

"If that's what it takes for you to drop her," Lisa follows. "I prefer you sleeping around as much as you did over... whatever you're doing with her."

"You don't get how lonely it is Lisa, this life. You may think that you do because your life is so perfect that you have to find a small flaw to make yourself feel human but you don't. Your dad tells you he loves you and your mother is alive to remind him to do so. Your fiancé has been your boyfriend since middle school but even if he didn't have as much money as us you still would've been allowed to marry him because your parents don't care," She screamed, "I slept around because actually ambitious sluts wanted to sleep with me for a chance to get one of my designer purses. I know she's hurt me Lisa, but she's treated me like she loves me, she's protected me, she's listened to me. And that's something that I barely get outside of her."
