You Can Talk To Me

Rey planned to address with Kylo what this thing between them was. Was it more than a dyad? They'd barely been back an hour. She knew that it had become a sort of elephant in the room. It was something that needed to be addressed and he hadn't said anything so far.

Rey led him to the observation room, using her key to enter. They sat down on the sofa. She didn't really know where to start.

"Kylo?"

"Yeah." He said sweetly as he nestled his face into her neck.

"What are we?" She asked.

He sat upright.

"What?" He said, sounding hurt.

"We can't keep pretending." She said bluntly.

"Pretending?" He said. "How are we pretending?"

"I mean we can't keep pretending that this...whatever this is, it's more than just a force bond." She said

'Shit' Kylo thought to himself. He wasn't ready for this.

"Do we have to talk about this now?" He asked in an irritated tone.

He was shutting her down. He wanted to avoid this conversation with her or at least have it on his terms.

"Well I just think..." Rey started.

"I don't have time for this." He said, storming off.

Rey was left speechless. She went to go after him. He looked at her as the doors of the elevator closed. She pressed the button over and over, trying to call the lift back up so she could speak to him and tell him she was sorry.

She'd really touched a nerve with him somehow. She eventually made her way back to her little room that sat next to his. She loitered outside his door for a while, wondering whether to go in and apologise.

'What do I have to apologise for?' She thought to herself. Whatever it was, he didn't want to talk about it. She sat down, leaning against the small bit of wall that divided their two rooms. Head in her hands, she started to cry.

"Well, well." Said a familiar voice. It was Hux.

"Seriously, not now." Rey said, wiping away her tears.

"I think you and I need a little chat." He said.

Hux nodded at her to walk with him. She got up. They walked down the corridor towards the control room.

"Whatever you think Ren thinks of you, you're wrong." Said Hux.

"I don't particularly think..." started Rey.

"You think he's changing at heart and you think you and him have something special that nobody else could ever have with him." Interrupted Hux.

"I mean, we do get along well and we have a connection on such a spiritual level." She replied.

"You're wrong!" Snapped Hux. "Ren's training you because he thinks he can turn you into a weapon, that you'll be a powerful asset to the dark side and he wants to spite his mother and late father. All this "goodness" in his heart doesn't exist. He only cares about you because of your potential which can be morphed into great power that he can use to destroy everything."

Rey found herself speechless for the second time.

"Just bare that in mind." He finished.

As she walked back to her room, her mind wandered.

'Were Hux's words really true? Maybe I've just been kidding myself.' She thought.

She let out a sigh and lay down on her bed. She desperately tried to fight off the thoughts in her head.
