Kylo kissed Rey gently as she slept. He was so overjoyed that she, the woman he was in absolute awe of said she loved him back. He'd built it up so much in his head and he realised, looking at her now, he realised it was the easiest thing he'd ever said to her.
"I love you so, so much." He whispered to her sleeping body. He lay his head with hers and just looked at her. He took all of her in and fell asleep next to her.
They shared a blissfully deep slumber in Rey's single bed in her small little bedroom.
When they awoke, Kylo decided to give her another lesson, this time on fighting. They used sticks to act as lightsabers. He gave her notes on where she was going right and wrong. They also did exercises with blasters and shooting targets. At first, she wildly missed. After more practise and gentle advice, she hit every single target.
As she went to shoot the last target, the world went hazy, everything started to blur Kylo's words were a blur, she couldn't make them out, just hear the sound of his voice. Her ears started ringing.
"Rey?" Kylo called, worried.
She fell to the ground.
"Rey!" He shouted again, rushing to her.
He picked her up and carried her back to his room. He desperately said to the guards
"Call the ship medic. Call the medic, NOW!"
He laid her in his bed. Waiting was the worst part, he didn't leave her side just incase she woke up.
After a while, the small medic bustled into his room with a large bag full of tools and remedies.
"I'm going to ask you some questions." The little medic said.
Kylo just nodded.
"Has she been sleeping well?"
"Yeah."
"Was she doing any strenuous physical activities when she lost consciousness?"
"We were just training, nothing too tiring and she'd slept well the night before, eaten okay and showed absolutely no signs of exhaustion before."
"Hmm. Any chance she could be with child?"
Kylo's heart almost stopped.
"No, no I mean maybe, I don't know." He said.
The medic raised her eyebrows before diving into the bag of tools. She pulled out a rectangular device, switched it on and started hovering it over Rey's body, starting with her head.
"Vitals all normal." She said, lowering the scanner to Rey's chest.
She lowered it to her stomach and hovered it over her before retracting it and looking at it, studying it carefully.
"Well," Kylo asked.
The medic looked at her and nodded.
"About 2 weeks." Said the medic.
"Will she be okay?" He asked. "When will she wake?"
"She's just sleeping. I'll give you some remedies to keep her and the little one strong and healthy. Call if there's anymore problems." She replied.
Kylo sat with Rey for hours, waiting for her to wake.
When she finally did, she sat up.
"Rey!" Kylo said in relief, hugging her and kissing her on the head.
"W-what happened?" She said, puzzled.
Kylo sighed. He took her hands in his.
"I don't know how to say this..." he trailed off. He cleared his throat. "You're...you're carrying a child."
"I'm what?" She said.
"You're pregnant, Rey."
"No...no, no I'm not. I don't even know how it happened."
"I mean it's pretty straightforward, Rey. You and I..."
"No I mean I don't know how it happens. I don't know how a baby comes to be." She said, looking down.
"You...you don't know...Rey I just assumed you were on some sort of contraception." He said.
"On what?" She asked. "Look, I had nobody to teach me that stuff, okay? I practically raised myself, remember?"
Kylo grabbed his hair.
"Are you angry? Are you upset? Be honest with me." She said. She couldn't tell how he felt at this time, her own emotions were running sky high.
"Actually," he said, jumping onto the bed beside her. "The opposite." He grinned. "I know it's a bit of a surprise and I never really imagined it'd happen this soon, but I'm actually really, really happy."
He peeled up her clothes to reveal her now flat belly. He started kissing it all over. He rested his head on it and smiled again. Rey ran her fingers through his hair. She wasn't sure how to feel about it. She didn't even know were babies came from, let alone how to look after one. The thought of being responsible for someone else's life terrified her.
"The medic gave me these," Kylo said, passing her the pot full of vitamins.
She studied the pot.
"They're to make sure you and our baby keep strong." He said.
She nodded, popping one in her mouth.
She lay back down on her side, facing away from Kylo.
"Hey, what's up? You don't seem too thrilled about all this." He asked, concerned. He thought she'd be as excited as he was.
"What did you mean?" She asked quietly.
"What?" He asked, confused.
"What did you mean when you said you didn't think it'd happen so soon?" She said turning over.
He moved up to her level.
"Oh..that, well. I've sort of been imagining a life with you for a while now and...well...I'd actually always hoped to start a family with you." He said, embarrassed. "That sounds really weird, doesnt it?"
She shook her head.
"I'm just frightened and I don't think I'm ready for this. How do I look after it?" She said.
"Rey, you did an amazing job of raising yourself almost entirely on your own. And YOU won't look after them. WE will. You always have me too. We're in this together." He said, gently.
Rey smiled.
"I guess it is kind of exciting isn't it?"
