Rey looked around. She was alone, but thoughts were racing around her head. Was she really ready to pledge herself to the dark side? Would she really turn on her old friends? Maybe kylo was right. Maybe it was wrong to sell them out. After all, punishing the world wouldn't work and she knew that. Taking her anger out on the people who were her chosen family, the only one she'd ever truly had was wrong and it wouldn't really heal the pain of her loss, it felt as if nothing could.

She couldn't bring herself to. Kylo would understand more than anyone. In her fragile state, she felt like being reckless, like hurting people as she was hurting.

She shook those thoughts off, got out of bed and got showered. Once she'd got dressed, Kylo crept into their bedroom.

"Kylo....where were you?" She asked, looking up at him.

"I just went out to clear my head and..." he started.

"Warn my friends about me?" She finished.

"Rey...just remember, I know the pain of killing somebody you love. Murdering my father was a mistake and I pay for it every day." He said.

"Your father didn't betray you like I was betrayed. They mean nothing to me anymore, they're all liars and they abandoned me. You're the only one who was there for me. I don't sense them looking for me, instead they ran." She said, agitated.

"You're also talking about killing my mother." Kylo said softly. "As I said, I'll back you on whatever you want to do and if I have to choose between you and my mother, I'd choose you, no hesitation but I just think..."

"I don't need your blessing, I can take on the resistance myself." She said, pushing past Kylo and storming out the door.

"Rey..I.." he called after her. He started following her down the corridor.

"Enough!" She shouted.

She stopped in her tracks and turned around towards him. She extended her hand towards him. She'd never throw him, so she stopped him in his tracks. He tried to walk but it was as if his feet were glued to the floor and there was an invisible barrier between them.

"Rey..." he said, his breath leaving him. "Just...think..about..." he started. She released him and continued walking.

She took a TIE fighter and zoomed out of the ship's hangar and towards the new rebel base.

"Rey." She heard a familiar voice echo through her mind. She knew it was Luke trying to reach her but she blocked him out.

She landed by the base.

"Rey!" She heard Finn call as she exited the ship.

He ran up to her and went to hug her but she backed away.

"Finn..." she said, looking him in the eyes.

"I want you to come with me." She said quietly. "Join Kylo and I on the dark side, there's a place for you with us, we..."

Finn cut her off.

"You mean Ben..." he said. Rey looked confused.

"He doesn't want this. Kylo Ren would've joined you but he warned us. He tried to talk you out of it. Surely you've felt a shift in the force...a shift in him...you can tell his heart's not in it." he said.

"Finn, join us." She said, ignoring him completely.

"You know I can't do that, Rey." He said shutting his eyes. "You know I love you like a sister and I'm sorry that you lost your baby..."

Rey flinched.

"But my loyalty lies with Leia, with Poe, with Rose." He sighed.

"You don't understand the pain I'm in." She sobbed, her eyes watering. "I've lost a part of me." A flicker of the old Rey crossed her eyes.

"But you can't take it out on us." He said.

"You don't get to tell me how to deal with this, you can't possibly understand." She said, any trace of the old Rey leaving her.

"Now where is Leia?" She asked, drawing her new crimson saber.

"Rey careful..." Finn started.

She threw him to the side. She stormed in the direction Finn had come from and then Leia emerged from the shadows and approached Rey.

"Rey." She said calmly.

"No. You don't get to speak." Rey snapped. "You lied to me, you kept a part of me away, you planned to use me to turn Kylo Ren to the light. I belong to the dark side now and I've never felt more at home."

"Rey I'm sorry, I..."

But before she could finish, Rey threw her to the ground. Leia stayed sitting up.

"Get up! Get up and fight me you coward!" She yelled, raising her saber.

Leia remained seated.

"Don't make this easy, I want you to fight me!" She shouted.

"Hey hey hey!" She heard a voice call in the distance which she recognised to be Poe's. He fired his gun in her direction, but she deflected each blast with her lightsaber.

She disarmed Poe, shattering his blaster with the force and casting him aside.

She turned back to Leia who had now scrambled to her feet.

Rey raised her saber and swung it down, cutting Leia's hand clean off.

"Leia, I..." she started, and then she felt Kylo's gloved hand against her forehead as he gently knocked her unconscious through the force.

As she fell into his arms, she looked up at Kylo and he blurred out of her vision and everything faded to black.
