Rey opened her eyes to harsh, bright light. She looked around for her mother and father, but they were gone.

She tried to get up, but fell to her knees when she realised her ankle was chained to the wall. She was behind bars, imprisoned and alone.

"Somebody please get me out." She begged.

"Rey?"

Ben appeared into view.

"Ben! Ben please get me out I saw them, I saw my parents...and Anakin...and Luke...and..." she stopped when she saw the look on his face.

"What?" She asked.

"Rey, my mom's badly injured, you cut off her hand and Poe's pretty hurt. There's nothing I want more than to let you out and hold you but I can't." He sighed, sitting down.

"I know, but I realised...just give me your hand, let me show you." She said, holding out her hand. Ben slowly reached his hand through the bars towards her as they had done in their force bond which seemed like ages ago now.

She shut her eyes and showed him the dream of Anakin, of their child, of her parents. Ben breathed in.

"You see? I was lost but I'm me again, I'm ready to become a Jedi again and I think you are too."  Whispered Rey.

She drew her hand back. She knelt next to the bars and he did the same. She snaked one of her hands through and drew Ben into a kiss, this time as her old self, her true self.

"Leia is she okay? What about Finn? And Poe?" She asked.

"Injured, but they're all on the mend." Said Ben.

"I need to get out, I need to see them." She said, panicked.

"I can't let you out, Rey." He said

"But..." she started.

"But I know as well as you that you can break out of this cell in seconds." He interrupted. "So I'm gonna go get you some water and when I get back, I expect you to be right here where I left you." He said with a wink.

Rey smiled as Ben walked away. She outstretched her hand towards the chain on her foot and bent the metal until it snapped off of her ankle. Instead of blowing the cell door clean off, she bent the bars apart, allowing her enough room to squeeze out. She ran outside where she saw Finn.

"Rey..." he said.

"Finn I need to get to Leia. I'm so sorry for hurting you all." She said, hugging Finn. "I don't know what I was doing, I was wrong...are you hurt?"

"I can't let you see her, Rey." He said, hugging her back.

"Why? I can help her..." Rey trailed off. She drew away from the hug and looked at Finn's pained expression. "But you don't trust me...do you? None of you do."

"We're just worried." He said awkwardly.

Rey looked at the ground.

"Even Ben thinks it's best if you just keep away for now, but it's good to have you back, Rey." He smiled.

"Ben." She whispered, grinning. "When can I see her? I think I can help."

"Look okay I'll walk you over there, but only to check on her, okay?" Finn said reluctantly.

They walked over to the medical wing where Leia sat in her hospital bed. Ben sat beside her, holding her one remaining hand.

"Leia." Rey said, crying at the sight of her.

"Rey..." Leia said.

"Rey I think..." Ben started.

"Leia I'm so sorry, I...can I see?" Said Rey, shakily.

Leia gave a single nod.

Rey approached her slowly, sat on the edge of the bed and reached out to Leia's arm which was bruised and bloody. She gently placed her hand on Leia's arm and closed her eyes. Suddenly. The wounds began to heal and slowly, her arm extended into her wrist and a new hand grew, casting the bandages off.

Everyone was looking at Rey, not quite believing what they'd just seen.

"There." Rey said as Leia lifted her arm up and moved her new hand around, gazing at it in awe.

Without warning, Rey toppled off the bed and collapsed onto the floor, Ben caught her head before it hit the floor.

He lifted her onto the adjacent bed and felt her pulse. He looked at the others. "She's just out cold from the healing, she just needs to re charge." He said, stroking her hair.

"She'll be okay, Ben." Finn said, looking at his best friend who lay so peacefully at last. "She has you."

Ben couldn't quite believe what he was hearing from Finn. His forgiveness was important to him.

"I never found the time to apologise to you. I have a lot of amendments to make but I want to start with you." Ben said, tones of shame ringing through his words.

"I can clearly see that you've changed and it will take time but I'd like to get to know you a little better. Kylo Ren and Ben are two different people and I can tell you're serious. It'll take a bit of time for me to be ready for that but you're important to her, so you're important to me." Finn said, looking down at Rey again. "Kylo was never truly a part of you."

Ben smiled "Thank you, Finn. Take all the time you need." He said

Ben took Rey's hand in his and sat beside her.

"You're not gonna leave her side are you?" Finn said.

"Never." Ben replied, not taking his eyes off Rey.

"I knew you'd find each other again." Whispered Leia who was still on the next bed over. "I'll give you two some space, come on Finn."

She got up and ushered Finn out.

"Leia, are you sure you're okay to..." Finn started.

"I'm fine, really." She said before turning to look at Ben and winking. "Rey took care of that."

Ben smiled at his mother and then shifted his gaze to Rey once more. He stroked her hair softly and kissed her forehead. He grabbed a pillow from the bed Leia had been on and set it on the floor, never letting go of Rey's hand.

He lay his head down and closed his eyes, his fingers still interlaced with Rey's. The events of the day had worn him out, so gradually, but peacefully he fell asleep.
