The next day, I was standing next to Clarke's bunk as I watched her draw over the map of Mount Weather. There was music playing in the room and everyone was deep in conversations with each other.
"It's not bad," Jasper said, walking up to us and making Clarke and I look at him. "Maybe they'll uh, hang it on the walls here one day."
I smiled at his attempt to make us feel better.
"Miller!"
The three of us turned and saw Miller walking into the room with Maya in tow.
"Look who finally got released," Jasper teased when we all noticed him.
"Hey," Miller said as I pulled him into a hug.
"I'm so glad you're okay," I said to him.
The boy pulled away and smiled, looking back at Maya. "Yeah. Only took, what, three surgeries?"
Maya smiled and nodded in response to him.
"I hear you're fitting right in," Miller said as he looked between Clarke and I.
Clarke looked at Maya with an accusatory look.
"Twice a day, don't forget. You'll be okay in a few days. Here," Maya said, breaking eye contact with Clarke and handing Miller his things.
"Thanks," Miller said as he grabbed the bag and tossing it on an empty bunk.
Maya walked away quickly, Jasper following her. Suddenly, an alarm started to blare through the room, causing all of our heads to snap up. Clarke jumped down from her bunk and stopped Maya before she could leave.
"Hey. What's going on?" my friend demanded the girl.
"That signal means the surface patrol is back and someone needs medical attention. I have to go to quarantine," Maya said, pushing past Clarke.
Clarke went to follow her but Jasper and I grabbed her arms.
"Hey, Clarke. What are you doing?" Jasper asked.
Our friend looked between us. "Maybe they found survivors. If our people are hurt, we have a right to know."
Clarke walked away, so I followed close behind her.
"I'm pretty sure we shouldn't just go wandering around," Jasper said before taking off after us.
We followed Maya all the way down to the quarantine area.
"What are we dealing with?" Maya asked as her and some guards were all putting on hazmat suits.
I noticed Thomas was there also.
"They were attacked. One dead. He's in room two. The other took off his gloves and mask to treat him. He's still in decon, but he'll need treatment as soon as he's processed through," a man told her.
Jasper, Clarke and I all rushed towards the door they were outside.
"Who attacked them?" I questioned.
Thomas looked at me. "Stella?"
"What are they doing here?" a guard asked Maya and Thomas.
I rolled my eyes and grabbed a key card from someone, walking to the door with Clarke.
"Hey, stop! It's not safe!" the man tried to tell us.
Clarke turned around and looked at him. "It is for us. Let's go, Jasper."
I ran the card over the reader and we both walked through the door.
"Someone's got to keep them out of trouble," Jasper said with a small chuckle and followed us to the quarantine ward.
