I sat up abruptly with a gasp. I clenched my eyes shut right after they opened and let out a groan. The room was white and so bright, I could hardly see. I slowly sat up, noticing that I was in a white tank top and white shorts, and I was barefoot.
There was a clean bandage around my arm where Murphy had shot me. I slid to the edge of the bed and looked around. The walls were all white, the floor, the ceiling, the furniture. Everything was white except for one colorful picture hanging on the wall behind the bed.
I looked down to my arm and saw an I.V. stuck in my wrist. I gently pulled it out, wincing at the pain I felt from the tugging. I pressed my thumb to the wound, trying to stop the bleeding as I stood from the bed I was on.
I slowly walked towards the door, trying the handle, but it was no use as it was locked tight and didn't budge. I caught a glimpse of a sign across the hall and my eyes widened slightly.
It said Mount Weather Quarantine Ward on a big, metal sign. I slowly backed away from the door until my back hit the wall. I clenched my eyes shut as I slid down the wall, coming to a seat on the floor.
"What the hell is going on?"

I sat on the floor of my room in Mount Weather for hours. I wasn't sure how much time had passed. I heard the lock click on my door and stood quickly. I backed away slightly when I saw someone enter in a white suit.
"Who are you?" I questioned them.
The person lifted their arms to their helmet and pulled it off. I saw a boy, around my age, smiling back at me.
"Hi, Stella. I'm Thomas. I'm here to clear you," the boy said.
I furrowed my brows in confusion. "Clear me? From what?"
"From quarantine. I'm betting you want to see your friends, right?" Thomas asked me, a smile still on his face.
He could tell I was tense from the way my hands were pulled into fists and I was rooted in place.
"Stella, I won't hurt you. You're safe here, I promise. Please," he said, gesturing to the now open door.
I hesitated briefly before I finally stepped towards him. A grin broke out over Thomas's face as he realize I would follow him.
The two of us walked down the empty halls, my eyes darting all over the place and hoping to catch sight of any one of my friend's.
"Where are you taking me?" I finally broke the silence.
Thomas didn't turn to face me as he walked. "To medical. I need to change the bandage on your shoulder and make sure your vitals are normal. Then, we can get you some better clothes."
I frowned as I followed after him, my bare feet cold on the tile floor. Soon, we reached a wing of the facility that looked like the med bay on the Ark.
Thomas led me into the room and over to a hospital bed. "Sit, please."
I did as instructed, my hands folded in my lap as I watched Thomas collect supplies for checking me over.
"How many of my friends are here?" I questioned him a minute later.
Thomas paused in thought. "Forty-eight of you, if I'm remembering correctly."
I watched Thomas wheel a medical cart over towards me.
"May I?" he asked, gesturing to my bandage.
I nodded. "Yeah."
