"Stella!"

I perked up at the sound of my name being called from my mother's lips. I slowly slid the floor panel from above my head to the side, carefully peeking out.

My mother was standing near the door with my father, the two of them with their hands bound behind their backs.

My eyes went wide as I saw the guards behind them, my heart beginning to pound in my chest.

"M-Mom? Dad? What's going on? Where's Finn?" I questioned, looking around with wild eyes.

My mother smiled at me sadly. "Finn's gotten himself locked up, sweetheart."

I shook my head as tears sprung to my eyes. I climbed out of the floor and tried to advance towards my parents, but the guards held me back.

"What's happening? How did we get caught?" I asked, tears streaming down my cheeks.

"Honey, they saw your things in Finn's room. They figured it out. I'm so sorry," my father said, my eyes shooting to his.

A guard spoke up from behind them. "Time's up. Let's go."

One of the guards grabbed my arm and tugged me towards the door. I resisted, putting all of my weight into digging my feet into the floor.

"Please! Please don't hurt them, they were just trying to protect me! Please!" I begged as the guards pulled my parents towards the airlock-turned floating chamber.

My mother turned to look at me, tears in her eyes. "We love you, Stella. Both you and Finn. Please tell him we're sorry," her voice cracked with her last sentence.

I let out a sob, my body shaking. I jerked against the hold of my guard, breaking free and running to my parents. I wrapped my arms around both of them and hugged them tightly, both of them trying to hug me back, but failing since their hands were bound.

"I love you both so much. This is all my fault, I'm so sorry," I sobbed out.

"It's okay, Stel, it is not your fault. You will be fine, you and Finn will be okay. May we meet again," my father said as the guard finally grabbed ahold of me again and pulled me in the opposite direction.

I clenched my eyes shut and let out another sob as I responded to my father. "May we meet again."

That was the last time I ever saw my parents, and the last time I had hope of ever being "free" again.

My parents never told anyone I had been born, they homeschooled me and kept me hidden on routine room checks. It was a couple years later, that Finn had been conceived. My mother was showing a lot bigger and faster this time, so there was no way she could hide it.

I told them I would hide myself, being the good big sister at just shy of three years old. I wanted my little brother to have the best life he could, not having to hide like I did.

It was the best decision I had ever made, and I didn't regret it for a second.
