I groaned when I woke up, squinting my eyes shut tightly at the sudden light.

"Bellamy?" I called out, my voice raspy.

I woke up on the floor, so I slowly stood up. I held onto a table as I got my bearings back. I winced in pain as I felt a throbbing in the back of my head.

"Fuck," I muttered as I rubbed the back of my head.

I grabbed my gun and left the room I was in. "Bellamy!" I called out as I made my way up the stairs.

When I got outside, I saw that it was dark now, so it was proving hard to find Bellamy. I heard another voice and quickly followed the noise.

"Because you're gonna get it," I heard the same voice from before I was knocked out, which I realized belonged to Dax, say when I got close enough.

I silently gasped as I saw the boy punch Bellamy before pointing a gun at him. Dax cocked his gun, making Bellamy's head snap up as he saw what was happening.

"Nothing personal," Dax said with a shrug before he pulled the trigger.

I sighed with relief when I heard the click, meaning the gun didn't fire. Bellamy reached beside him before holding his hand up. There was nothing there. Dax cleared the jam and I quickly but silently made my way behind him as he stared at Bellamy. I held my gun up.

"Put the gun down, Dax," I hissed out, making him spin around to face me.

The two of us were now aiming our weapons at each other.

Dax shook his head as he looked at me. "You should have stayed down there, Stella. I tried not to kill you, but here you are, and Shumway said no witnesses."

I furrowed my brows and looked behind Dax at Bellamy. "What is he talking about?"

"Shumway set it up. He gave me the gun to shoot the Chancellor," Bellamy informed me from his place on the ground.

"Walk away now, and I won't kill you," Dax said to me.

"Put it down," I demanded, jerking my gun.

Dax shrugged. "Your choice."

I quickly pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed. I cursed, hiding behind a tree as Dax fired off a couple shots.

I was breathing heavily as I struggled to reload my rifle. I heard Bellamy yell and then the two crashed to the ground. I heard them fighting as I finally got the gun reloaded.

I grabbed the gun in both hands and ran from behind the tree.

"Get the hell off of him!" I yelled out.

Dax reared his arm back and punched me with his elbow. I gasped as I fell to the ground. I sat up and watched as Bellamy plunged a stray bullet through Dax's neck. The boy fell to the ground, his eyes wide.

The two of us were both panting as Bellamy stood and made his way over, sitting on the ground beside me. I immediately threw my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my middle.

"You're okay," I said to him gently.

Bellamy pulled away and shook his head. "No, I'm not. My mother... If she knew what I've done, who I am... She raised me to be better, to be good." Bellamy's voice cracked.

I put my hand over his. "Bellamy..."

"And all I do is hurt people. I'm a monster," he said sadly.

I shook my head and moved in front of him, making him look at me. "Hey... You saved my life today. You may be a total ass half the time, but I need you... We all do."
