Harry’s P.O.V
I stare down at Cali’s sleeping face. All of her muscles are relaxed. Her head is on my chest. Her hair wrapped laid gently on the pillow. She looks so peaceful when she sleeps. She looks like an angel. I gently move her head and set it down on her pillow. I quietly get up and step into the bathroom. I suddenly remember that I can’t look in the mirror because of the curse. Then an idea clicks in my head. I grab my cell phone and point the camera at me. Yes, I can’t look in the mirror, but it doesn’t mean I can’t take pictures, right? I hear a click and a flash goes off. I turn my phone around and look at my picture, nearly jumping back in shock.
I have bruises and some cuts all over my face. My arms are covered in them too. There are patches of dirt on my skin and clothes. I notice a cut by my lower lip. I can cover all of these up. But that’s not what I’m shocked about. I turn my head so that the right side is facing the camera and take another picture of that. I look at the picture and my eyes widen and I tilt my head in confusion.
There is…black ooze coming out of my right ear. What the heck. Why is there black ooze coming from my ear? I lift my right hand and touch my right ear. I feel something cool and slimy coming from my ear. I remove my hand and examine it. There is a small patch of black ooze on my fingers. I gasp and look at the picture of my ear. Where did this ooze come from? Is it even possible that ears can bleed black ooze? I don’t think anyone has ever had their ears bleed black ooze.
I shiver and just wash my hand and ear. When I’m positive that my ear is clear of black ooze, I quietly step back into my room, and see Cali sitting up, rubbing her eyes.
“Oh, I’m sorry Cali. Did I wake you?” I ask. She shakes her head, still rubbing her eyes slightly.
“No.” She says while yawning. “You didn’t. I’m fine.” She says groggily. She fixes her hair and gets up. She walks over to me and takes both of my cold hands in her warm ones. I never realized how cold mine were until now. She sighs and looks up at me, her big blue-green eyes staring into mine. My heart nearly melts at the sight of her. She is perfect. They say no one’s perfect, but they are all wrong. Cali is perfect.
I smile at her and pull her into a hug. She rubs my back and soon I pull away. I lead her to my bed and we both sit down, hand in hand, her head on my shoulder. I wrap my arm around her. She soon speaks up.
“Harry, can I ask you some questions?” she asks. I look down at her and nod. “Okay, well, for starters, what do you remember from this morning? I think you were wearing the ring when we left, so you must’ve worn it since you woke up.” She says. I sigh and recall back to what I thought was a dream.
“Well…once during the night, I was having this dream, well, at least I thought it was a dream.” I start off.
“What do you mean?” she asks, furrowing her eyebrows.
“I was in bed, and there was this…this shadow figure standing over me. I thought this was just my imagination and that I was dreaming. Then he pointed to my bed side table and I saw that ring Alexis was talking about.” I say, thinking hard at the memory, since everything was just kind of a blur. “I picked up and I looked at him. I thought that since it was a dream, it wouldn’t hurt to put it on. Well…I did, obviously. I just then felt like this dark energy was entering me. I looked up and the shadow figure was disappearing, and that’s when I thought that it might not be a dream.” I say. She nods and thinks a little.
“Anything you remember while you were wearing the ring?” she asks. I shiver at having to think about it. I don’t remember much but the memories I do have are painful. Cali notices me shiver. “I’m sorry, if you don’t want to talk about it then that’s fine.” She says. I shake my head.
