When you say Nothing at All

Chapter 03

A few weeks has passed since Khushi started working for Raizada Group. She proved Arnav wrong in a few days. She learned everything quickly, all the systems, and the procedures, and even she memorized Arnav's schedule.

"I can't tell you how happy I am Khushi"

"What happened Lavanya?"

"Remember I told you we have a two months probation period?"

"Yes, I hope I am doing great?"

"You have gone above and beyond. ASR is so impressed with your work and he emailed me this morning saying he is disregarding the clause"

"Am I getting fired?"

"No silly, from today onwards, you are a permanent employee of Raizada group. No more probation crap"

"Really? Are you sure? Oh my god. Thank you so much, Lavanya"

"Don't thank me. Thank ASR. He pulled the strings and got HR to do this. You must have impressed him a lot, Khushi. Otherwise, I have never seen him doing anything like this to any of his employees"

"It's all because of you Lavanya. You are my mentor"

"Now, I need a party"

"Why not, let's go out for drinks this evening?"

"Sure, we'll leave a little early. ASR is also going early to attend a party so we don't need to stay till five today"

Khushi was happy. Finally, she has a secure job. Her father no longer has to work extra hard to feed them. The only problem she has is how to keep herself away from Arnav.

Khushi is not a child. She knows what is happening around her. She has caught Arnav stealing glances at her multiple times. Those eyes were following her everywhere. Within these weeks she has been in his cabin more than a few hundred times.

He would ask her to come and then he would forget why he asked her to come in. She has become his designated coffee maker. Each morning before he enter his cabin, he would come to her and ask her to bring his coffee.

Khushi was no fool. She knew her boss is smitten with her and it's no harm in returning the favor. It's not like he is in love with her. It's just a simple attraction so why not put it to good use?

Khushi never shared these encounters or thoughts with anyone. Deep down she knew what she was doing is wrong.

She should not lead Arnav on like that. She should tell him to stop. But then Khushi was afraid he might fire her if she said so. This is a place she can climb up her career ladder and if she has to play a little dirty to do so she wouldn't mind.

That's why she did not tell Lavanya about this. Khushi knew how she impressed her boss to get this quick permanent position but she isn't going to reveal her secrets.

"Miss. Gupta, if you are done with your thinking, can you bring me a cup of coffee?"

Khushi quickly composed herself and saw Arnav standing in front of her. He looked serious.

"But Sir, it's noon"

"Do I need your permission to drink coffee now?"

"I am sorry Sir, I will bring it right away"

Khushi rushed to the kitchen while Arnav went back to his cabin leaving the door half open.

Arnav couldn't help himself. Each time he decides he is going to stay away from Khushi he ends up calling her to his cabin. All he wanted was to look at her. Seeing her face made his day. He felt like his life is in order when she is around. Each time she comes to his cabin he acts like he forgot why he asked her to come and so that he can call her back later.
