Chapter 39

Khushi and Arnav's plan to take Ahaan for a day out worked well as Anjali had an appointment and she wanted Khushi to babysit Ahaan to which Khushi happily agreed.

"Are you really my new uncle?"

"Yes Ahaan, he is your uncle"

"You  live with Aunty Khushi now?"

"Yes Ahaan, I live with your Aunty Khushi now"

Both Khushi and Arnav saw how sad Ahaan became after listening to that. Arnav got up, bought him about dozen mini cupcakes and sat next to him. Khushi looked at both of them sitting opposite while sipping her coffee.

"Aren't you happy that I am your new uncle?"

"You are nice. You bought me cupcakes and hot chocolate"

"Then?"

"I love sleeping with Aunty Khushi. But now you will not let me come there"

"I would love for you to come there. We can play games"

"Really? You will play with me?"

"Of course, I will"

Ahaan innocently smiled at Arnav and started eating his cupcakes. Arnav looked at Khushi and gestured to what are they going to do next.

"Ahaan, who do you love more? Mom or Dad?"

"Mom. Dad never buy me toys or play with me"

"What about between you Mom and I? Who do you love the most"

The kid stopped eating and started to think. 

"You are my favourite person in the whole wide world, Aunty Khushi"

"Really? So would you come and stay with me?"

"No Mama?"

"Just you, me and him"

"Aunty Khushi, do you know, papa went to America"

"Really? Who told you?"

"Mama told me Papa went to America and he will not come back soon. Mama is sad"

"Is she?"

"Yes, she cries every night and she only stops when she hugs me and sleeps"

Khushi looked and Arnav while trying to understand what this kid is trying to say. She asked him if he likes to come and stay with them, but he is rotating his answer. 

"Aunty Khushi, I love you soo much, but Mama need me. I am the man of the house"

Arnav understood what is going on, the kid loves Khushi more than anything but when it comes to his mother, he will not leave her. His small brain has figured a lot out for his age. Ever since Shyam is away from their lives, Ahaan has been the oxygen for Anjali's life. Arnav gestured for Khushi to come with him. 

"Ahaan you enjoy your cupcakes and hot chocolate, we will be right back ok?"

"Ok"

Khushi followed Arnav towards another empty table in the cafe.

"Khushi, we are going to break Ahaan if we do this"

"I felt that to Arnav. His love for me is not big enough for him to leave my sister"

"We can't blame him, Khushi. You may have given birth to him, but she is the one who has been in his life constantly throughout. She is the mother he knows"

"I am in a big moral dilemma Arnav. What are we going to do?"

"Let's do the DNA test and get the confirmation we need. Then we'll decide"
