Both Arnav and Khushi found solace in each other's arms. The familiar warmth was making each other feel things they haven't felt in years. Arnav broke the hug and cupped Khushi's face. He saw the answers to most of his questions in her eyes.
Loud hiking they heard from a nearby street bought them back to reality. They can't do this. They cannot fall back into the same mess again. Both of them have moved on and that's how it should be.
"I should leave now"
Said Arnav letting go of Khushi.
"Yes, Good Night"
"Good Night Khushi"
Aranv saw the coffee cup on the table and quickly drank it before rushing out.
"God, I missed that coffee"
He murmured himself while walking back to his car. Arnav sat in his car and drove away as fast as he can.
"What was that Arnav? Is this how you take revenge for what she did?"
"I got caught up in the moment"
"If you spent five more minutes over there, you would have ended up pouring your heart out to her. You have Sheetal in your life and Khushi is bad news"
"But what if she was telling the truth whole this time?"
"Ask your dad if she took the money, simple"
"I did a while back and he said she did. Lavanya also found proof of transfer to an account under Khushi's name"
"Then you have your answer"
"But why do I feel like there is more to the story than what I know"
"Arnav, you have your life in order now. Do not go back to that darkness"
Arnav tried reasoning with his inner self. Spending time with Khushi bought back a lot of old memories. Arnav felt relaxed and happy after a long time. When he is with Sheetal, he feels obligated to do so, but with Khushi, it comes naturally.
On the other hand, Khushi walked around her apartment trying to calm herself down. She could still feel his heartbeat, the warmth of his body, and the feeling of his soft palms on her cheeks.
No no no Khushi, you cannot feel that way. He is the reason for all your problems and just because he said sorry doesn't mean you can forgive him for what he did. If he supported you, if he was with you every step of the way, the baby would still be alive. Shyam only chose you over the baby because of the circumstance, the real culprit is Arnav.
Khushi heard the dryer and remember Arnav left without taking his clothes. She took her phone out and dialed the number she remembered from the back of her head only to find out the number she knew for Arnav had been disconnected. He cannot contact her because she also has a new number.
This was enough for Khushi to realize how far they both have gone. It doesn't matter how many times they say sorry to each other or have nice dinner conversations, the reality is they have fallen apart. He has someone in his life and she has to focus on herself.
That hug shouldn't have happened, those feelings shouldn't have come out. Because the end result will not be going to be sweet. This time, they both will fall into a bigger mess than before if they give in to these feelings. More lives will be ruined this time.
Khushi took Arnav's clothes out of the dryer, pressed them, and kept them in her wardrobe thinking of returning them later. That night Khushi slept like a baby. After all these years, that night was the first night she didn't wake up in the middle because of a nightmare. Deep down her soul finally received what it was searching for, his warmth.
