I smiled as I stared over at the stage, mixing a drink in my hands. I threw the glass up and then poured the cocktail into it. I handed it over to the woman sitting at the bar. My boyfriend's band was playing here tonight, because of me, and it seemed people really liked them. I was mesmerized. They all looked so in the moment. So happy up there.
I occasionally served people while washing glasses and watching them play. It was a slow night, but there were still many people who'd get the band's CD after the show. Spencer would occasionally glance over to me and wink, causing a pink blush to spread across my face. We'd been together for years and he still flustered me like the first time we met.
I smiled to a man who walked up to the bar. He seemed sketchy, but sketchy people came in here all the time. Normally I'd get them to smile before the end of the night. "What can I get you sir?" I asked.
"Bud on tap."
"Can I see your ID?"
"This is ID enough," he whispered and pulled a gun out. My heart started racing, beating hard against my chest. "Ever been in a situation like this?"
"N- no, sir. Please, put the gun away.." It was a revolver. Looked like a 44. I kept a smile on my face as I made this small talk with him, not wanting to panic other people in here.
"I can't do that, sweetheart. I need you to open the register and take out all the money. Put it in a brown bag. I won't shoot if you obey me." The man talked low. I sat a glass down and poured a shot of whatever was closest. I slid it to him.
"I can't get in the register. Only my boss can." I wasn't lying. If someone paid with cash, I had to stick it in another safe, even if there was money in the register.
"Then open it. I don't care what it takes," he said, and I could tell he was getting annoyed. I was panicking. What was I supposed to do? I can't open the fucking register! I couldn't open the safe either, he didn't know about it. But I was running low on options.
I grabbed a bag and hid under the counter. We didn't have a panic button. We were an old bar which had been renovated. This place has always been peaceful, nothing ever went wrong. But it had to. On my shift.
I shoved what money I could from the safe and stood back up. I handed it to him with a smile, holding it like it was a bottle of alcohol. "That's it? You've gotta be kidding me."
"I- It's all the cash I can get to sir, I'm-" I heard the gunshot ring through my ears. My hands flew up to my stomach and I gasped. People started running. I slowly looked down to see the blood pouring out of me. I felt dizzy and I fell back. I must've hit my head, but I didn't feel it.
The whole place panicked. The guy tried to rush out, but security got to him. I closed my eyes for a moment until I felt myself get scooped into someone's arms. "No no no, don't fall asleep." Spencer.
I opened my eyes and looked at him. The hospital was an hour away. I looked around and saw multiple people staring at us on their phones. "Look at me," Spencer said. I averted my eyes to him and saw that he was crying. I smiled and slowly reach my hand up to his cheek. "No, you can't go. You can't die like this. Not today."
"It's okay. They won't make it in time."
"Don't talk like that, Y/n. We'll get you to the hospital. They'll be here, don't leave me!" Spencer exclaimed. Tears ran down his cheeks profusely now. I smiled and pulled my hand back down to rest on my stomach. I felt my eyes getting heavy.
"I love you." It was the last thing I said. I thought I was dead. So I closed my eyes. I let the feeling take over. I couldn't help it. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. It was warm. It was bright. Inviting. I smiled and reach towards it.

Beep . . . Beep . . . Beep . . .
I groaned and opened my eyes, whatever was beeping was getting annoying. At first it was blurry, but then I saw the whole band standing around my bed. "Spencer?" I questioned, hoarse. I looked to my right and saw him with a bright smile. He leaned down and peppered my face with kisses. "Where am I?"
"The hospital. I told you we'd get you here," he said.
"The light was warm.. It's cold.." I shivered and pulled the blankets over me.
"Let's go get some lunch, leave these two alone," Pat said with a smirk. I would have yelled at him, but I didn't have the energy. I watched the other four boys walk out and Spencer sat on the edge of the hospital bed.
"You scared me," Spencer whispered, rubbing his thumb over the back of my hand. "I thought I was going to lose you."
"You would have been okay," I smiled at him.
"Not without you."
"Yeah.." I laughed softly and smiled. His eyes were beautiful. Were they always that bright? I slowly moved over and pat the bed next to me. Spencer looked around and then laid next to me. I smiled and faced him, smiling with my eyes closed. "When can we go home?"
"They don't know. You had surgery."
"Gross.."
"They saved you. That bullet went through your stomach. It would have caused serious damage." Spencer seemed to tear up at the thought of it. "I watched you get shot. I watched you pass out in my arms. I thought you were dead, Y/n."
I put the hand with an IV in it on his cheek and gently kissed his forehead. "But I'm still here. Did they get the guy?"
"Yeah. And your boss got the cash back. He said you could take off as long as you want," Spencer said with a smile.
"I don't think I want to work in any type of food or customer service. Again," I smiled.
"Maybe once we blow up you can come on tour with us," he spoke and wrapped his arm loosely around my waist. I moved closer to him, at least what I could, and snuggled into him.
"Maybe.. For now I wanna sleep.."
"Go to sleep, love. I'm right here," Spencer whispered. I slowly shut my eyes and let sleep wash over me.
