I lost my mood after that realization. I wasn't looking forward to the party anymore. That's my bad though since I shouldn't be feeling like this. It's just me and my ugly jealousy.
If Mom was hearing my thoughts right now, I would be dead.
The exchange gift came and Sydney explained how the system will be. Basically, they'll call the first, alphabetically, person in our class then that person will call who they drew then give them the gift. Then that person will call the person they drew and so on. We're out of that cycle since Saint and I drew each other. So when everyone was done, they asked who still got their gifts and it's just me and Saint.
"Si Santi 'yung binunot mo?" Sydney asked, whispering to me.
"No. Binalik ko yung paper 'di ba?"
"Talaga?"
I ignored her suspicious look. I'm sure she thinks it's just a friend wanting to pick his friend on the exchange gift so it can be worth it. Yeah. I think so.
They made us sit side by side in front of everyone since it's only us left. As we handed each other our gifts, both in a paper bag, Saint said something only we could hear. "You and Sydney are getting really close."
"We just talk like what I do to our other classmates." I shrugged on that. "Don't you want me to get close to others?"
"I do. You seem less of a loner."
"You think I'm a loner?"
"Yung vibe mo lang."
I glanced at him, hinting how offended I am. He just laughed at it.
"Oh, buksan niyo na," Kyle urged us.
"This feels heavy," I commented, feeling the weight of his gift.
"Yung sa'yo din naman."
"Buksan n'yo na!"
"Mas excited ka pa sa'kin, Kyle," Saint told him.
I took the liberty of opening the gift first. I pulled the top of the bag, taking the ribbon off. Saint did the same afterwards. We both took the tissue out and looked inside. I should've known that we both got the same type of gift for each other.
I looked at him knowingly and he did the same. Then we both took out the vinyl from the bag. Both signed, two different artists and albums. Mine is the Midnights album by Taylor Swift while his is The Car deluxe version album by his favorite, the Arctic Monkeys.
"Parehong vinyl ah. Bawi kayo," Kyle commented.
