Chapter 5

Once Alex and Klaus arrived outside their apartment building, they began to walk to their respective apartments.

"You know, you're more powerful than you let on, love. Thank you for the help again" Klaus told Alex.

"Thank you, I think. And no problem, I didn't mind helping. Besides, now you owe me a favor." Alex smirked in reply.

"Oh that's right. What is it that I can do for you, love?"

"Hmm...I don't know just yet, but I'll let you know when it comes to me." She said as they just reached their apartments. "Well goodnight Klaus. Try not to get into too much trouble will ya?" She said as she giggled.

"No promises, love. Good night." With that, they both went into their respective apartments to retire for the night.

Klaus POV

"Good morning Maddox and Katerina."

"You seem to be in a good mood." replied Katherine.

"Yes, well the witch problem is dealt with. Plus I may have gotten a new powerful ally."

"Really?"

"Yes, I'll be in an even better mood when I get out of this body. It has officially outlived its usefulness."

"Don't worry, I'm going to retrieve your body now. I'll be back as soon as I can." replied Maddox.

"Good, and please hurry. I'm anxious to get out of this body. And make sure to call me if you get hung up." he told Maddox as he left the apartment.

"Are you sure it's a good idea to get rid of this body so quickly?" Katherine asked Klaus.

"Well, the full moon is almost upon us, the witch has been neutralized, I have the moon stone, and the doppelganger is waiting in the wings as we speak. Soon I will finally break this curse."

"But why do you have to do that here?" asked Katherine.

"It's the birthplace of the doppelganger, so I have to."

"I didn't realize that was a requirement."

"Well how could you, you fled England before I could give you the details, Katerina. Although I did manage to find your birthplace after all, didn't I? When I slaughtered your family. Let's just hope that Elena isn't as stupid as you were."

"She won't run, she'd rather die than let anyone she loves get hurt."

"And that right there, Katerina, is what I'm counting on. Now before I go...You can't leave until I tell you to." He compelled Katherine as he left the apartment. However, before leaving the building completely he decided to stop by Alex's apartment.

Alex POV

I decided to stay in bed a little longer today since yesterday was so tiresome and draining.

'Why did I agree to help Klaus again yesterday?'

'Because now he owes you. And having an original vampire in your debt is a big deal and will come in handy someday.'

'I guess you're right.' She replied back to Death as she heard someone knocking at her door.

"Ugh..who could be knocking at my door right now." she said as she rolled out of bed and made her way to the door, only to see Klaus smirking at her.

"Two times in less than 24 hours, I must be special. Now what is it that you need from me again, Klaus?"

"I'm sure you've heard that I will be breaking my curse soon."
