Chapter 13

Damon was driving back towards Mystic Falls when his phone alerted him that he got a text. "Jeremy, check my phone and tell me who that message is from." He said.

Jeremy nodded his head as he reached over to grab Damon's phone. As he read the text his facial expressions changed from curiosity to nervousness very quickly.

"Well what does it say?" Damon asked, not taking his eyes off the road. "Jeremy!" He yelled.

"Huh?"

"What did the text say?"

"It's from Elena, she says that Klaus is back in town and that she is in danger. We need to hurry back to Mystic Falls."

Damon jerks the car over on the side of the road and snatches the phone back from Jeremy to read the text himself. After reading it, he calls Elena to make sure that she's all right.

Back with Alex and Kol

Alex and Kol are sitting on the stairs in the hallway when Elena's phone begins to ring. Alex grabs the phone and smirks over at Kol when she sees Damon's name as the caller ID.

"Elena. Elena, are you there? Are you alright?" Damon asked.

"Oh she's fine, for now. Hello, Damon."

"Who the hell are you?"

"Oh you don't recognize my voice, I'm hurt."

"...you're that art teacher that I killed, how are you alive?"

"I don't die that easily"

"What have you done to Elena?"

"Like I said before, she is perfectly fine for now. But I don't think that will last for long."

"If you so much as lay a finger on her–"

"You'll what? Kill me? You tried that before, remember? It didn't work the first time, what makes you think it'll work this time? Hmm?"

Damon seethes in silence before saying, "This time, I'll make sure that you die slowly and painfully." Then he hung up the phone.

Alex turns to Kol, "Well he seems to have quite the temper, doesn't he?"

"I don't like him."

"I know."

"If he so much as looks at you the wrong way when he gets here, I'll beat him to a bloody pulp."

"I won't stop you, just don't kill him. At least not yet." She smirks.

"What do you have planned?"

"I just want to make his life a living hell for as long as possible. Maybe even to the point that he's begging for death."

"You make me like you more and more everyday."

"I try," she said as she flipped her hair and giggled. Kol puts his arm back around her shoulder and they walk back to the gym.

Back with Damon

Damon seethes after hanging up the phone. Jeremy starts to worry even more about his sister and asks, "What's wrong Damon? Is my sister okay?"

"I don't know," Damon says before opening his phone again to make another call.

"What do you mean, 'you don't know'" Jeremy asks, but Damon shushes him before pressing the call button.

"Hello, Katherine." Damon said.

"Ahh, Damon. You just left not that long ago. Do you miss me that much?"

"No, I'm calling to see if you've woken Mikael yet."

"Not yet. He's out of commission. I'm trying to feed him, but he won't eat anything."
