Chapter 15

Alex stood frozen in the shower as her thoughts began to plague her mind.

''How could I do this? What is wrong with me? I am such a bad daughter and friend for forgetting such an important date.'

She eventually made her way out of the shower and finished getting ready for bed. When she walked to her room she noticed Kol was already asleep in her bed, so she decided to go to sleep as well. However, the more she laid there in the quiet room the more her thoughts ran rampant in her head causing her to get barely any sleep.

The next morning she felt exhausted having not gotten enough sleep the previous night. She begrudgingly gets out of bed and makes her way to the kitchen to make herself some coffee and food only to see the Mikaelson siblings already there with food and coffee prepared for her.

"Good morning." Rebekah says in greeting.

"Good morning, darling. We made you some fo–" Kol started before noticing the change in Alex's usual demeanor. "Alex, darling, what's wrong?"

Rebekah immediately turns around at the worried tone in Kol's voice. She cautiously asks, "Yeah, Alex...are you okay?"

Alex, however, says nothing. Rebekah then turns to her brother and asks, "Did you do something?"

"Of course not. Why would you blame me?"

Alex still says nothing, standing there staring off into space with tears falling down her face. All she can think about is her family, and their bickering just triggered even more memories of her and her siblings.

After seeing tears cascading down her face, Kol tries to approach her cautiously, "Alex, are you okay? We're here if you want to talk?"

"He's right Alex. This isn't like you. We just want to make sure that you're okay." Rebekah says.

Alex looks up at them both, but she still says nothing as she shakes her head and teleports away to Death's realm.

Once she gets there, she runs to her favorite place in the meadows and breaks down on the ground crying. At that moment Death decides to make his appearance, "Ah, Alex! What a surprise! I didn't expect you to be here."

"Why didn't you tell me..." she mumbles.

"Could you repeat? I didn't quite hear you."

"Why didn't you tell me that I missed my family's death anniversary? We were in communication during the summer. You literally start random conversations in my head. So why, during those times, didn't you tell me that I missed their death anniversary?!? Huh?!?"

"...You just seemed so happy. I haven't seen you that happy since your family was alive, and I didn't want to ruin that for you."

"That wasn't your decision to make Death!!...You know what, whatever. I'm just going to go talk to my family and apologize for not being here and missing it." She said storming away. Death stands there gaping at Alex sadly as she walks away.

Alex continues walking until she enters a clearing. Once there she sits and takes several deep breaths to calm her nerves before closing her eyes and conjuring her family.

"Hey Alex." her dad says, causing her to open her eyes wide. At the sight of her family she once again breaks down in tears.

"Oh, mija. What's wrong?" her mom asks worryingly.

"I-I'm so sorry. I completely forgot about the anniversary of you guys's deaths. Usually that's at the forefront of my mind, but...but this year I went months without remembering...I'm so sorry."
