Chapter 9

Klaus drove everyone to Memphis, Tennessee a couple streets down from a white farmhouse. Everyone filed out of the car hoping to get some fresh air, only to feel the stickiness of the humidity in the air. "What are we doing here Klaus?" Alex asked.

"We're here because this family supposedly knows the whereabouts of Ray Sutton."

"Right..That werewolf you're looking for. But the last few people you asked didn't know where he was, so how are you so sure that this clue will lead you to him?"

"You need to have more faith, love. I believe that these people will lead us to him. I mean who can resist my charm." Klaus said with a smirk. Alex raised her hand, causing Stefan, Rebekah, and Kol to snicker in the background as Klaus's smirk fell slightly. "Whatever, let's go Stefan. We have a werewolf to find." And with that Klaus and Stefan made their way to the house.

A woman walked out of her house calling out to her dog while looking for him. When she looked up she was spooked at the sight of Klaus standing in front of her.

"I am so sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Klaus said with a Southern American accent.

"Can I help you?" asked the woman.

"Yeah, my uh, my car ran out of gas a few miles back. I feel like I've been walking forever. Yours is the first house I come to, so I was just hoping that I could use your phone."

"Don't you have a cell phone?" she asked skeptically.

"Yeah, the battery died." Klaus said as he showed her his phone. "Look, I promise I'm not a serial killer, I just want to use your phone."

"Sure." The woman said as she sighed and turned to get the phone from her house.

"So...Can I come in?" Klaus asked expectantly.

"No. I'll bring the phone out to you."

"I thought you country folk were supposed to be more trusting." Klaus said as he dropped his fake accent.

"I'm from Florida."

"Well, that explains it." He said as he zoomed over to her, grabbing her neck. "Now show me a little southern hospitality..sweet pea." He said, compelling her.

They both walk into the house, with him holding the back of her neck making her lead him through the house to the other woman living there. When they made it to the kitchen the woman turned around in shock at the sight of her friend with tears in her eyes being held threateningly by an unknown man.

"Please don't be alarmed. I was told that Ray Sutton lives here."

"He's almost never home. He's on the road mostly."

"But I assume he makes it home at least once a month." The woman just stared at him, not even bothering to try and lie. "That's what I thought. Where is he now? If I have to make you tell me, it will be infinitely more painful for you."

The woman looked at him intensely before bolting to the front door, and opened it only to see Stefan leaning in the doorway causing her to scream. Klaus casually walked with the blonde woman to the front foyer saying, "I love it when they run."

At the sight of having nowhere to run, the woman told him, "He's in Tully, near the border. At a bar called Southern Comfort off Highway 41."

Klaus thanked her and asked the blonde woman to invite Stefan inside the house. Once Stefan was allowed access, Klaus pushed the blonde woman towards Stefan telling him, "Kill this one quickly, but make the other one suffer. I'll be waiting in the car." Klaus said as he walked out the door. While walking down the path towards the car, he could hear the screams of the woman he just interrogated causing a knowing smirk to appear on his face.
