As Alex slept, she began to toss and turn in her sleep as nightmares once again plagued her mind with the deaths of not only her family, but also the recent death of Klaus, who she has come to think of as her brother. She gasped awake trying to escape the nightmares, but she still could see the visages of her departed loved ones, causing her to hyperventilate and shake her head to remove the images she was seeing.

The sounds of her panicked breathing caused Kol to quickly wake and sit at attention. He looked at Alex with concern and slowly tried to coax her out of her panic attack, "Alex, darling..."

Alex didn't respond, instead continuing to shake her head with her eyes closed tightly. Kol, then, tried a different approach. He slowly moved closer to her, gently taking her hands. Alex flinched at this, but soon relaxed once she realized it was Kol's slightly callused hands caressing hers. Once he saw her relax, he continued to gently caress her hands before saying, "That's it, darling, just take nice deep breaths. Copy my breathing, okay?" Alex shakily nodded her head before copying Kol's breaths. When her breathing became more even, Kol decided to ask, "Did your nightmares come back?"

Alex took a shaky deep breath before replying, "Yeah. But this time it wasn't just my family deaths, it was Klaus's too."

Kol sighs as he nods his head in understanding before saying, "I'm sorry, darling. Is there anything you want me to do for you?"

"Just hold me, please."

"Of course." Kol said as he slowly pulled her into his arms, her head on his chest as they reclined back into the bed.

"...Kol?"

"Yes, darling?"

"I need you to promise me something..." Alex says as she sits up to look at him. Kol nods his head and looks at her to continue. Alex takes a deep breath before saying, "I need you to promise to always stay with me, okay? I just-I can't deal with losing anyone else, so just, please don't die and leave me...please."

"Kol gently caressed her cheek, wiping away the tears she didn't even realize were there. He slowly leaned in to kiss her lips before pulling back and replying, "I promise. I have no intention of leaving you, and I never will. You're stuck with me."

The corner of Alex's lip quirks up a bit as she replies, "Good, because you're stuck with me too."

Kol chuckles before replying, "I wouldn't have it any other way. Now, it's really late, so let's get some rest, darling."

Alex nods her head as she yawns before laying back down on Kol's chest, allowing her fatigue to coax her back to sleep.

The next time she woke, it wasn't to nightmares plaguing her dreams, but to the smell of food being cooked. She extended her arms above her head as she stretched, ridding the last reminisce of sleep from her body, before standing from the bed and going to the bathroom to do her morning routine.

When she entered the kitchen she stopped at the sight of Kol cooking away at the stove. She smiled at the sight before walking over to him, wrapping her arms around his waist and resting her cheek against his back. Kol used his unoccupied hand to caress her hands, before pulling them up, giving them a quick kiss. He then turned the stove off and moved the pan off the hot aisle before turning to face Alex, smiling down at her. "Good morning, darling. Breakfast is almost ready." Kol said before leaning down to give her a quick kiss.

Alex hummed before smiling up at him. "Good, because I'm starving. I'll be at the table." Alex said before unwrapping her arms from around his waist and walking over to the table.

Soon, Kol walked over with a plate of food and placed it in front of her. Alex smiled before replying, "Thank you, Kol. I always look forward to your cooking in the morning."
