Chapter 24

Alex and Kol walk around Mystic Falls, enjoying each other's company on a relaxing day.

Rebekah suddenly joins them, "Hey Alex!" She says as she engulfs her in a hug.

Kol looks offended at not being mentioned and says, "Hello? What about me?"

Rebekah leans back from the hug and says, "What about you?"

Kol's expression changes from offense to irritation, but before he can retaliate Alex steps between the siblings and says, "Okay, that's enough of the sibling drama...Now, Rebekah how has your day been so far?"

"It's been going okay. I've been looking into something. Apparently the white oak tree that we burned down a thousand years ago wasn't the only one?"

"What do you mean?" Kol asked.

"Exactly what I said. There was another white oak tree that existed. And I've been doing research around town to find it."

"And? Have you found anything yet?" Kol asked.

"Obviously not Kol. I'm on my way to talk to the Mayor right now about any old milling records that might say anything about it."

"Well, it sounds like you have it figured out so far. If you need any help just let me know." Alex said.

"Of course. Now, I've got to go before I'm late to my meeting with her. I'll see you guys later." Rebekah said.

"Well the fact that more white oak is out there is worrying." Kol said.

"Yes, but I'm sure Rebekah will figure out where the remaining white oak is and get rid of it."

"Yeah, you're right. So, I remember that I owe you another trip, so where would you like to go?"

"Oh, hmm...I don't know, how about you pick?"

"Me? You want me to pick? Why?"

"Well, I remember you saying you used to travel a lot in your 1000 plus years of living. You must have some place that you want to return to."

"Yes, but it's your trip."

"I know, but I picked last time. Besides, I trust your opinion."

"Okay then, let's go to France."

"Oooo, I like it. Yeah, let's go there." Alex said as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

Kol wraps his arms around her waist while smiling down at her. He put his head in her neck and pouts before saying, "I wish we could go now and just get away from here."

"I know, but we have to wait until Klaus get's Finn so I can unlink you guys. Especially now that there might be some white oak around, I don't want you guys dying on me."

"I know, darling." He said before leaning down to kiss her softly.

Alex pulled back slightly and smiled up at him before interlacing their fingers and pulling him along. They make their way back to the apartment, but as they are about to relax on the couch there is a knock at the door. Alex goes to answer it to see Bonnie standing there.

"Oh, hey Bonnie." Alex says

"Hi Ms. Russo. I need your help with something."

"Okay...And what would that be?" Alex says as she opens the door wide enough for Bonnie to come in.

Bonnie walks through the threshold and takes a deep breath before saying, "Well, you know Alaric Saltzman?"

"Hmhm" Alex hums in agreement.

"Well...he has like this other personality that's going around and killing founding members. And I could use your help to find a way to remove it or stop it."
