Vladimir "Vlad" Stojanovic- Serbian ancestry; Vlad is the eldest child in the Stojanovic household, who is classified as one of the poorest kids in his grade level and is currently a high school senior. He is loyal to his family and friends and considered the most sexually knowledgeable and experienced of his friend group. He is often perceived as heroic, kind, and smart, even when his friends ridicule him, and has a particularly special connection with his younger sister Mila. His muffled responses are often met with laughter or further confusion, and he often seems to act differently without his parka on. Although he is something of a silent observer around most people, Vlad still seems to be very empathetic when it comes to his loved ones. He worries about his brother AJ going to hell when he confronts their father violently and shows his compassion when he feels sorry for his friendless classmate Micah Drury and adds him on social media. He tends to skip or miss school a lot for a variety of reasons, mostly due to going to the junkyard with his friends or being sick, causing his peers to joke that he "died" or was killed somehow. Despite his perverted sense of humor, cynicism, and profanity, he is ultimately shown to be a noble person who would go as far as to sacrifice himself for the people he cares about. Vlad normally appears blank-faced as a result of his overcoat, but he does tend to get visibly emotional from time to time. In his earlier life, when an unknown term was introduced to his peers, he would be called upon by them to clarify it, although he sometimes did not know the meaning of the term himself. Upon finding out that his girlfriend Mallory, who was considered "trailer trash" gave another boy a blow job in a T.G.I. Friday's parking lot, he became desperate for her to also perform the act on him and eventually got his wish, athough he subsequently developed syphilis.
He often engages in disgusting acts for money, such as eating fried worms or licking the seat of a taxi car on a dare, and is considered one of the boldest among the boys at his school. Vlad is also a fan of monster trucks, as evidenced by a 4x4 poster of a monster truck hanging in his room on some occasions. He also watched NASCAR with his family at times and criticizes his friend Adam Summers for giving it a bad reputation by poking fun at his love for the sport. His sexual knowledge may be gleaned from his parents, or from the pornography he possesses under his bed, such as copies of Playboy magazine. He shows a strong fraternal instinct when he develops a superhero persona to protect his little sister Mila when he and his siblings are briefly separated from each other and put in foster care. Vlad is also shown to be a fan of Rob Schneider and enjoys watching his performances on Saturday night live or finding old clips of his on YouTube. He loves comedy films and enjoys The Hangover, although he will also never miss a new Seth Rogen film when it first comes out in the movie theaters. He has an interest in Peruvian music that his friends find unusual, although he likes to listen to rock music from certain bands, including Shinedown and Three Days Grace. He similarly owns a pet kitten named Mr. Kitty that he sleeps with every night and pampers him as if he were his prince, although the boys at his school spread rumors that he used him to get high by "cheesing", a term even he is unsure of. Since then, Vlad has become apathetic towards the possibility of ever dying and views his demise as no more than an inconvenience, as well as an excruciating and agonizing one, and hopes his passing away one day will be quick, but not painful. He has a side to his personality that tends to be philosophical, as he is often questioning things and the meaning to life, which makes him suffer from insomnia as he stays up thinking.
His family is Roman Catholic, although he does not consider himself particularly religious and leans more on being agnostic in terms of his beliefs. He is also a believer in the power of science and claims he would like to be the first person to develop a time travel machine one day to prevent COVID and alter the events of the past. Vlad is also very selfless and has a side to himself that can be very generous, as indicated in his desire to give money to the homeless people on the street and donate to charities. He is a kind person who always looks out for the underdog and is quick to own up to his actions and defend those around him. He purchases a brand new doll for Mila to play with after using his savings and annually takes his younger siblings out to go trick-or-treating with him. He is likewise an honest person who is straightforward with his intentions, although his candor can potentially cause him to come across as blunt at times. Vlad admits that he once hallucinated a kingdom of breasts and Taarna, the girl from the 1981 film "Heavy Metal", that he must fight his brother for. He ends up getting sober until he finds flowers at the end of the day and sniffs them, which caused a buzz and his going back to hallucinating that he was in space with Taarna. He can be surprisingly mature when he wants to be however and is not averse to disciplining his siblings or reigning them in when their actions become absurd. He also tends to serve as the designated driver for his friends and often takes on the role of "Team Dad" among them due to being the only one who is 18 years old. Vlad is also an ambitious person who hopes to contribute to society in a meaningful way and do good things for the world, which leads him to desire to become a police officer. He has read the American constitution for fun and wants to be a part of law enforcement in order to help the world and improve its conditions, as well as put an end to police brutality.
His guidance counselor Mrs. Long spoke to him and once suggested that he had a gift for advising others and had good listening skills, implying he should go the counseling route himself. He nevertheless states that he enjoys the rush that he feels when fighting off crime and prefers a job in which he can treat every day as if it were an adventure. Vlad is also a fan of comic books and seems to be quite knowledgeable when it comes to different Marvel films, admitting that his favorite superhero is Captain America. He is also fairly skilled at drawing and can be found making sketches in his spare time, having created many portraits of his loved ones. He likes history class at his school and enjoys reading biographies about influential people and the way they have impacted others through their actions. He is very politically aware as well and often complains about the flaws justice system and the inflation in the economy, claiming to be conservative and a Republican. Vlad vaguely recalls his third grade class having a canned food drive, and it is mentioned that the food was donated to him because of his family being stuck in poverty. His family is usually seen eating hoagies for dinner and pop tarts or frozen waffles for breakfast, although his father says it's due to his wife not knowing how to use spices and other ingredients. His parents frequently got drunk and abused each other, and when he was younger he and his brother would laugh, but it's shown now him and his siblings, particularly Mila are annoyed and upset about the fighting. This leads to him and his brothers and sisters getting taking away to a foster home, where they only serve agnostic beverages, like Dr. Pepper, because it's neither root beer or cola. Vlad is one of the few students his classmate Eddy Beadles openly respects, looking up to him due to his age and respecting him for his success with women.
The two formed an unexpected friendship while playing the PSP game, "Heaven vs Hell", and his caring nature allows him to comfort him during dark times. He tends to shown an air of apathy upon his hearing his racist, ableist, sexist, and homophobic comments, as his mostly neutral stance towards most things makes him largely unaffected by the behaviors of those around him. He also works as a peer mentor at his high school and treats a younger student named Levi Johanssen as if he were his best friend. Vlad is a tall, lanky boy who stands at 6 ft 2 in tall and has sandy brown hair, brown eyes, a gap between his front teeth, and a light, freckled complexion. He is often seen wearing an orange parka that covers much of his face, which causes his classmates to declare that no one has ever actually seen "the real Vlad". He tends to have a deeper, manly voice that surfaces whenever he is LARPING with his guy friends or adopting a different persona as Mysterion for his little sister. He also appears to have grown a full blonde beard by the time he is middle aged and is often seen with glasses and casual attire by then due to having moved to Hawaii. Vlad fondly recalls getting his first girlfriend in the 4th grade when he began dating a blonde girl named Keely who sang in a choir and volunteered to protect the rainforests from being destroyed. He vows to wear a purity ring at one point and swears to remain celibate until marriage, although he breaks his promise when he begins seeing a girl named Zulema as a young man. He is shown to have become widely successful scientist by the time he is in his 50s and has earned enough money to help him his family and take them out of poverty by then.
