1993,

"Valery!" I exclaimed as the girl entered our dorm room, Valery— who was slightly frightened by my sudden outburst jumped slightly, though soon composed herself when she saw me.

"Y/n" Valery huffed as she dropped her luggage to the floor and made her way towards me. And before I knew it, Valery had jumped at me and pulled me into one of her bear hugs,
one couldn't escape.

Though, we had to let go eventually, because me and Valery had much to catch up on. "How was your break?" Asked Valery as she finally pulled away from our embrace. "Eventful, yours?" I asked as I tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear.

"Amazing, I went to Paris with Blaise and his family." Valery giggled, a smile making its way to her face at the mention of Blaise.

"You spent Christmas with Blaise?" I mocked, a sly smirk making its way to my face as I shook her shoulder vigorously. "Oh shut up," Valery said as a tint of red made its way to her cheeks.

"Are you, falling for Blaise by chance?" I accused, causing Valery's eyes to widen, though she soon scoffed. "Oh I don't know, are you falling for Draco?" Valery mocked, causing my eyes to widen As well.

"Alright, alright. I'm done" I said, allowing myself to fall back onto my bed. And within moments, Valery joined me.

Valery turned to her side and smiled at me widely. I myself couldn't help the smile that grew to my lips as many thoughts traced my mind. everything felt in place, I had my best friend by my side. I wasn't thinking about boys, or any conflicts I may have, because in this moment. I felt like nothing mattered, other than living in the moment.

Though that thought soon evaporated when a knock was heard at my door. Valery jumped to her feet and walked to the door before opening it as soon as it was in her range of reach.

And very much to her surprise Harry was on the other side of the door. "What are you doing here?" Asked Valery, her eyebrows quirked slightly.

"I need to talk to y/n," Harry said, before he pushed past Valery and allowed himself into my room before he began searching for me, though that didn't take long at all.

"Y/n, I need to talk to you" Harry said, before he made his way to my bed and stood at the foot of it. "I heard," i replied sarcastically.

"What is it?" I added, allowing myself to sit up so I could fully see Harry. "It's about the dementors" Harry began, only spiking my interest.

"What about the dementors?" I asked, a stream of thoughts coming to my mind of what Harry could possibly be referring to. "They seem to be drawn to us, right?" Harry said, allowing himself to take a seat beside me.

"Yeah.." I replied, my eyebrows slightly furrowed. "We need to learn how to cast them off, and I think professor lupin might be able to help us" Harry spoke, causing my facial expressions to change drastically.

"Well, we better speak to lupin then, right?" I said, causing a slight grin to make its way to Harry's face. "Yeah" Harry said, his eyes shone of proudness.

"Let's go," Harry said, standing up from my bed and initially walking over to my door. Though I stood still at my bed— much to Harry's displeasure.

"You coming?" Asked Harry as his hand rattled with the doorknob. "Uh, yeah" I said simply, before I turned to Valery.

"I'll be back, yeah?" I said. "Ok, but once you get back we have a lot to catch up with" Valery said, a small smile creeping its way to her lips.

I nodded my head at the girl in agreement, before making my way over to Harry and following him out of the door.

"So how do we plan on convincing lupin to teach us the spell?" I asked, hopping Harry would have a plan. "Well y/n, if you haven't noticed yet. Lupins got a soft spot for us. And I'm sure he wouldn't say no." Harry said, a mischievous grin making its way to his face.
