1994, Christmas break. 24th December.
I had been walking around Hogwarts for about an hour now, my mind was blank as I watched the students ahead of me cascade the corridors with friends.
Meanwhile I was alone, just as I always was. Though it truly didn't bother me, I actually quite liked it if I'm being honest.
"Y/n!" Valery's voice broke me out of my trance. I turned behind me, whereupon I was met with the sight of Valery jogging in order to catch up with me.
"Yeah?" I asked, coming to a stop so Valery could join my side, which she did. Then, we began walking together.
"I have to tell you something. But promise you won't be mad?" Valery's face changed to one of sincerity, only causing a slight bit of anxiety to form within me.
" I promise, now what is it?" My eyebrows furrowed as all the possible reasons I would and could be mad at Valery flooded my thoughts.
"Harry asked me to the Yule ball" my eyes widened, though not in a bad way, I was simply utterly surprised.
"Wow, well, um. Congratulations?" I replied unsurely, "I said yes," she added as she fiddled with her fingers.
"Ok? Am I supposed to be mad at you? Do you want me to scream?" A slight chuckle left my lips. "Wait, so your not mad?" Valery asked, confused.
"No, Valery. I'm not mad at you, if anything I'm happy." I placed my hand on Valery's shoulder, a slight smile imbedded at the corner of my lips.
"Really?" Valery let out a breath of relief. "Really." I repeated, allowing myself to chuckle ever so slightly.
"Thank Merlin," Valery exhaled, as though she had been holding it in. "So your still up to getting ready with me and Pansy tomorrow for the Yule ball?" Valery asked hopefully.
"Yes, Val. I'll see you tomorrow" I smiled at the girl warmly. Valery returned the smile before she raced off ahead of me, disappearing into the crowd in front of me.
I smiled in the direction Valery went in before I went off to find my brother, I hadn't talked to him in a week or so, so it should be good to catch up.
I felt as my legs led me to the all to familiar common room, also known as the Gryffindor towers, which I always found myself in.
Oddly enough because in reality I was not a Gryffindor. "Y/n?" A sweet voice rang out from beside me. My head snapped into the direction of the voice, whereupon I saw Hermione
Her facial expressions looked confused, and her eyebrows where knitted together. "Is everything alright?" Hermione asked, her books held closely to her chest.
"Yeah, is Harry with you?" I asked, walking closer to Hermione. Though due to Harry and Ron coming from behind Hermione, I had gotten my answer.
"Harry, hey." I smiled, relieved to see my favorite person. "Hey, y/n. You ok?" Harry's voice rang through my ears.
"Oh yeah, I'm perfect actually. I just wanted to stop by and see you, it's been a while." I admitted, watching as Harry's facial expressions changed to one of glee.
"It has been," Harry smiled warmly. "How's everything been going?" Harry added, a more serious expression on his face.
"Really good actually." I admitted, my smile 10x bigger than it was before. "That's good, that's really good" Harry said, nodding his head in the process.
"Yeah, how've you been? Anything new with the egg?" I asked, my eyebrows knitting together slightly. "No, nothing new." Sighed Harry exasperatedly.
"I can help you if you would like?" I suggested, though Harry was quick to deny. "I don't want to do that to you y/n, I'll be fine" Harry placed his hand on my shoulder, a serious glint in his eyes.
