Hope

The pulsating music's been invading our ears since Iris and I stepped into Serenity. We made our way to the center, and as if drawn by an invisible force, our bodies move in sync with the hypnotic beats. The club's neon lights paint our faces in a kaleidoscope of colors. The room's alive with excitement, and the dance floor a whirlwind of gyrating bodies lost in the rhythmic embrace of the night.

There are countless people around us, but it's as if Iris is the only one who exists. Her body intrigues me, the way it sensually grinds against mine. Demanding my attention the entire night.

We've been seeing each other for three weeks since our first kiss, apart from the disastrous date I unintentionally caused. But despite that, we have yet to take things to the next level. Every morning before school, I pick them up; every evening, I drop them back off; and on weekends, I practice soccer with Imani.

My mind drifts to how much I miss sex. The lack of intimacy is driving me insane, and I'm pretty sure I'm experiencing blue balls. Although my mind urges me to find some relief elsewhere, I don't want to jeopardize what I have with Iris. This unfamiliar feeling is new to me, and I find myself questioning if I'm doing anything right when it comes to monogamy.

As we dance, Iris turns around and wraps her arms around my neck, pulling me from my thoughts. "What's wrong?" she asks, concerned.

"Nothing," I reply, smiling, leading her back to the VIP section. We sink into the plush sofa together, and Iris playfully bumps into me, her laughter filling the air. Gently, I trace my fingers along her exposed thigh while nibbling on her earlobe. She lets out a soft moan, and a surge of heat spreads through me as we become lost in our own little world.

Our moment is interrupted by Lucy, "What can I get you, ladies?" she asks, her gaze fixed on me, annoyed.

"What would you like, Bambi?" I ask, turning to Iris.

"A Cosmo, please," she beams.

"Get me a Corona light, cold," Lucy rolls her eyes and pops her gum at my response. "And Fix yourself, Luce. I don't pay you to give the customers attitude."

"Whatever, Hope; you don't pay me to sleep with you either, but you still hit this a few times, huh?"

Iris laughs, shaking her head as Lucy storms away. "You've made quite a few enemies around here?" she teases.

"How so?" I ask, curious.

"There were so many eyes sending daggers our way on the dance floor. They're mad I was dancing with you." Skeptical, I scoff and shake my head, my eyes narrowing slightly as if doubting her words. "You didn't notice?"

I draw her face towards mine, "How could I with your body pressed against mine?" She bites her lip, her eyes flickering between mine before our lips finally connect. The taste of the various drinks she's had tonight lingers on her tongue, mingling with our shared passion.

Our moment is interrupted again by Lucy clearing her throat as she sets our drinks on the table and walks away. Iris, slightly embarrassed, continues to giggle and buries her face into my neck. "Why do you do that?"

"Do what?" I reply, trying to mask my confusion.

"Sleep around so much. Have you never thought of just settling down?" She takes a delicate sip of her Cosmo, and my gaze lingers on her plump lips and the red lipstick stain left on her glass.

"What would I want that for?"

Iris sighs and leans back into the sofa, her eyes scanning the club crowd. I almost think she won't answer my question. But I watch as her lips part to speak. "I don't know why anyone wouldn't want to. Falling in love might not be easy, but it is worth it."
