The wish didn't come true.

"Mom, Dad... You've got any books on sleep deprivation or something?" Ryo asked her parents. She couldn't sleep. The guilt was eating away at her. Thankfully, her parents always wake up whenever she bothers them to.

"Eh? Does our daughter want to follow our footsteps and-" Her mom had a smile that reached ear to ear.

"No. It's just for Meimei," She bluntly stated.

Her mom frowned. She whispered to her husband, "Honey, she might actually be-"

"No, no. Sistemu-kun gave me his word. He won't date her," He reassured his wife.

"Thank the gods," She jumped up and down on her bed and announced, "WE SHOULD GIVE OUR EMPLOYEES A DAY OFF TO CELEBRATE-"

"Mom. Dad. No," Ryo said sternly. She glared at the both of them. Expecting absolute obedience from the both of them. She instructed, "I need the best doctor you've got for Meimei as soon as possible. Send her to Nijika's apartment. Pay her extra. I don't care. Just make sure he's healthy."

"Yes, Ryo," They both bowed down in front of their daughter.

Makes you question who's the parent in this relationship.

"I'll be paying for all the medical expenses," Ryo said.

"That's just paying us with our own money-" Mr. Yamada said before Ryo handed him an envelope.

"My salary. Here. Whatever. Do what I told you to do," Ryo walked out of her parents' room. Hoping that this one good thing helps her sleep better at night. She picks up her phone and then calls Nijika.

She leaned her back on the wall. Looking out the window in front of her. Seeing the moon and the stars in the dark night sky. She heard the phone pick up and she said, "Yo."

"Explain yourself," Nijika replied.

"I'm getting you a doctor to check up on Meimei," She told her in advance. "I'm sending her to your apartment."

"...For real?" She asked almost surprised by Ryo's sudden gesture of kindness. She almost prepared for her to say that this was a prank. Or something. But the scenario was serious. Sometimes, Ryo can actually act like the 19 year old she is.

"Advantages of someone who's parents own a hospital. She might arrive in an hour or two."

"It's 8 PM," Nijika deadpanned. "You could've done it earlier."

"I know, but... I... was... shaken I guess...," She confessed. "I'm an idiot. I don't know what to do in scenarios like this, but... This is something I know I can do. I hope it helps."

"Glad to know you're getting kinder," Nijika said in a somewhat proud but sarcastic tone.

"I've always been like this," Ryo lied. "I just reserve it for people who I care about."

"Stop lying. This is special for you. We both know it," Nijika calls her out.

"...Maybe it is," Ryo sighs. She held her phone tighter as her voice began to be a lot more nervous. "Also, Nijika. Doesn't matter how late in the night it is or how early in the morning. If he's awake... call me. Please."

"I will. Good night, Ryo," Nijika said.

"Night to you too," Ryo ended the call.
