CHAPTER 23
“Nag iwan ako ng kaparehas mo, kasing wangis mo— humihinga ngunit hindi buhay, matatagalan pa bago nila malaman na hindi ikaw ang nakaratay sa higaan mo, kaya bago man nila malaman na hindi ikaw 'yon ay mas mabuting huwag ka na lamang mag reklamo sa mga pinapa gawa ko sa'yo at pag igihan mo, kung ayaw mong mamatay,” She said and she tapped the walking stick on the ground.
It was a big explosion, isang malakas na liwanag ang lumitaw mula sa tungkod, and the surroundings were clear, I clearly saw some creatures disappear in what she did, it's mind-blowing at what I saw.
I was too stunned to speak— I just stared at her until the light was over.
“Mag sibak kana ulit,” she said, and turn around and walk towards the door. Before she closed the door, she left a safekeeping for me.
I just stared at her until she closed the door, then I turned around and picked up the ax and started to chop again.
I frowned— I stared at the ax—what's the trick to cutting these things? I focused and started to give my whole strength, I felt heat running on my nerves, heat that I couldn't explain, and suddenly my hands were covered in black smoke up to the ax.
I give all my strength to the ax and start to chop, in one hit, the wood is torn into pieces. I was stunned, I smiled, and I continued to chop until the last one.
Pabagsak akong umupo habang naka sandal sa gabundok na mga sinibak kong kahoy, I was gasping for air and wiping my sweat— at last, I was already done, and I heard the rooster start to make noise. It's already morning, and the sun is already rising.
I was busy looking at the sun when I heard the door open. I looked at the hut, and I saw the old hag holding a cup of tea and a small plate with sweet potatoes on it.
She gave me the plate full of sweet potatoes and a cup of tea while smiling, her appearance is now a bit okay compared to last night, not glitching nor changing, she looks like a middle-aged lady with brown curly hair.
“Bilisan mo kumain at mangangaso tayo para may mainom ka,” she said, and she sat in the pile of woods that I chopped.
I just nodded and I felt the tiredness of my body, hindi na ako nakakaramdam ng antok simula ng makainom ako ng dugo.
After I finish my food, I feel hungry even though I already ate.
“Alam kong gutom ka pa, tumayo kana diyan at aalis na tayo,” she said and stood up and went inside the hut. I just stared at the pile of wood that I had already hacked.
When she got out of the hut, she was holding a bow and arrow. I immediately stood up and went to her. She gave me the bow and arrow, I just stared at it. I don't know how to use this weapon.
“Magugutom ka kung hindi mo pag-aaralan kung paano 'yan gamitin,” she said.
She must have noticed that I don't know how to use this weapon. I held the bow tightly and looked at her.
“Kailangan kong matuto,” I said to her, and she smiled and nodded to me. She started to walk towards the gate, and I just followed her. I need to train more. I'm not that guy who's always defended by others. Kailangan kong ako naman ang magtanggol sa kanila.
When we went out of the gate, the hut suddenly disappeared, and I frowned as it disappeared.
“P-Paano?” I asked her while looking where the hut was, "Salikmata,” she said.
I frowned, I'm confused—alam kong wala pa talaga akong gaanong kaalaman patungkol sa mundong ito, I was still confused, amazed, and surprised. Like, just wow.
“Kaya pinapaalalahanan kitang huwag lumabas ng tarangkahan, dahil sa oras na lumabas ka ay hindi mo na alam kung saan ang lagusan pabalik,” she said, and that's why she always left me a safekeeping before she went inside the hut.
“But, what the fuck, the zombie-vampires came up out of nowhere last night?” I confusedly asked her, because based on what she said, no one can see this hut.
“May nag utos sa kanila kagabi, at 'yon ang hindi ko alam kung sino,” she said while thinking about how that happened.
I suddenly realized that I had seen a group of people wearing black cloaks last night, but I had just ignored them and continued with what I was doing.
She started walking, so I just followed her and didn't say what I saw last night. Ever since I came to the university, I always see people with cloaks while looking at me. I find it weird and uncomfortable.
We passed by a wide lake, and it sparkled because the sun hit it. I stopped to look at the sparkling water when suddenly I heard a beautiful voice singing, so gently that it seemed to cradle you in the softness of her voice.
When suddenly Helenora hit me in the head, I looked at her confused.
“Takpan mo ang tenga mo,” she ordered me to cover my ears. I furrowed my brows, but it continued singing, so I closed my eyes to feel the rhythm.
I opened my eyes when I couldn't hear anything, I saw Helenora raising her brows at me—she dragged me to the cliff, and she pointed the siren. S-siren? What the fuck, so the siren is what I hear singing.
This is not what we usually hear in the story, that the sirens have an attractive look at mesmerizing beauty—I'm still shocked at what I saw.
Their color is gray that seems to be pale— they have no hair, and it looks like tentacles act as their hair—ang mukha ay tila isda— walang tangos ang ilong—at itim ang mga mata— their hands seem like those of a duck— and their color seems to be gray that seems to be pale like an ash— there is no other color involved.
