CHAPTER 35

After a big explosion, I opened my eyes little by little, and I could see the races watching inside the arena. The illusion they created was broken, it looks like the illusion collapsed because of the explosion that happened.

When I turned around, I saw my opponent lying on the edge of the ring, bleeding.

Pag kakataon ko na para tapusin ang laban habang wala siyang malay, I slowly walk towards her and ready my dagger to stab her. When I was in front of her, she coughed blood and reached my hand, slowly opening her eyes.

“Nag mamakaawa ako, tapusin mo na ako,” she said, coughing up blood. I saw her stomach stabbed by the sharp wood, walang humpay sa pag tagas ang dugo sa kanyang tiyan. I put pressure on it to somehow stop the bleeding, but she held my hand to stop what I was doing.

She shook her head, indicating that I should stop. I looked at her confusedly.

She got some blood from her stomach and murmured some spell, and she reached my temple. I immediately held her hands to stop her, but she seemed so sincere, so I supported her hand and pointed at my temple.

Suddenly, some event flashed through my mind, involving some people that I didn't even know. Too many events were entering my head. I felt pain, it hurt, and her hand fell down. I opened my eyes immediately.

“Tulungan mo ang pamilya ko. Parang awa mo na.” She said I didn't know how to react to her.

Halos nag tugma ang hinala ko, I immediately looked at the crowd to search for that old hag, I was right, she's still watching the battle, kahit na malayo ako ay naririnig kong may binabanggit siyang spell, and suddenly a dark purple smoke flew from the old hag to the lady who's now lying on my legs.

The symbol around her neck seemed to absorb the smoke. Suddenly she couldn't breathe, she held her neck while chasing her breath.

Mabilis niyang hinawakan ang kamay kong may hawak na punyal ay itinarak sa kanyang dibdib, gulat ang remihistro sa aking mukha, nakangiti itong tumingin sa akin.

“I-ikaw na ang b-bahala, salamat,” she said, and she closed her eyes. The smoke came out of her body and flew to me, indicating that her ability moved to my body, and her body slowly turned into ashes.

I looked around to search for that old hag, but I didn't see her in the crowd. When the emcee announced that I won the battle, the crowd cheered my name. I stood up and looked at Helenora, who's now looking at me smiling, nanalo ako.

Mabilis akong nag lakad kung nasaan si Helenora, I smiled at her even though she didn't see my face, and she hit me on the head.

“Magaling bata,” she proudly said, and she hit me again.

I irritatedly looked at her, but she dragged me down on the side of the ring to exit the battle field that had already been damaged because of what I did.

Some races congratulated me. Helenora looked at them to distance themselves from me. Mabilis kaming nakalabas sa arena,  as we walked out of the small tunnel, masikip at mabaho ang amoy. I just covered my nose and followed her.

Nang makalabas kami sa maliit na lagusan ay mabilis na nagbukas ng lagusan si Helenora, patungo sa kubo. When we arrived at the hut, I quickly removed the cloths that were wrapped around my whole body and went to the back of the hut to go to the well and bathe because of the smell of blood that splashed all over my body.

Habang naliligo ako ay nakita ko ang mga itim na ugat sa daliri ko. I stare at it for a second, many what-ifs flashing to my mind, but I immediately shook my head, erasing those thoughts. I need to live more.

I took a quick bath and immediately entered the hut. Helenora came to me with a sweet potato and tea, which she handed to me while smiling. I quickly got it and left the hut.

Suddenly I realized that I already had those abilities, hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala hanggang ngayon, I looked at my hands and still couldn't believe, pinag dikit ko ang dalawa kong daliri at may dumaloy dito na kuryente, I smiled, I tried to light up my hand with fire, and suddenly blue fire came out of my fingers.

I furrowed my brows, why was it blue? And Helenora hit me on the head,

“Asul,” she said, and I couldn't even tell what she was talking about, I looked at her in confusion, and she sat down beside me.

What is this old hag saying? I looked at her carefully while she was sitting next to me on the fallen tree.

“Asul na apoy para sa may bughaw na dugo,” she said, and I still can't process what she said.

“Tanging kayo lang ang may gan'yan na apoy, magaling at napa labas mo kaagad ang apoy na asul,” she added, and I still don't understand.

She said we are the only ones who have this kind of fire, and now she is saying that I got it out  the blue fire quickly.

I just nodded, even though I still can't get her point. Bigla akong nabobo.

I just drank the tea looking at her, while she was smiling out of nowhere.

What is this old hag thinking?

“Natutupad na ang kahilingan mo, Lauren.” I furrowed my brows. Is she talking?

“Malayo-layo na rin ang narating niya.” I heard again, and I narrowed my eyes, looking at her,

“Kausap mo ba ako?” I ask her confusedly if she was talking to me.

She looked at me surprised “Nababasa niya ako.” I heard what she was thinking, and I suddenly realized that I had already read and heard what was on her mind

“Mabilis kang natuto.” I heard her thoughts, and she hit me on the head. Shit, I can't believe that I already learned this.

I can't stop smiling, looking at her.

She tapped me on the shoulder and stood up. “Mag sibak kana babalik kana bukas,” she said to me in a sad voice, and she went inside the hut.

I just looked at her, babalik na ako bukas na madaming natutunan at iiwan ko na ang matandang ito, and when the door closed, I picked up the ax and started to chop the woods.

I have cut the wood without difficulty, it's not as hard as when I was about to cut these woods almost in the morning and I still couldn't cut a single piece.
