CHAPTER 27
He chose to end his life with his opponent. I looked at Helenora, who was calmly looking at the battle ring— she snorted at the ring, so I looked at it immediately. I saw smoke coming out of the bodies of the fighters earlier, and it flew somewhere. I frowned as I wondered what it was.
“Abilidad—na dapat kung sino ang manalo sa kanila ay makukuha nila ang abilidad ng katunggali nila, pero sa naging sitwasyon nila ay namatay silang pareho kaya mapupunta ito sa kung saan man ito gusto sumanib,” she explained to me while looking at the battle ring as if she already knew what I wanted to ask her.
The emcee announced again that the next fighter would go on the ring.
“Ikalawang gabi sa bilog na buwan,” the witch said to Helenora, and Helenora dragged me into the small magic circle.
The small magic circle scanned me, and Helenora gave some fake information to the witch, which is the scanner took down all the information of what Helenora told them.
I frowned, but I just kept listening to them. As we got out of the underground, Helenora opened a portal.
“Sasali ka sa laro—Ikalawang gabi sa bilog na buwan,” she said, and take off her cloak.
“Baka mamatay ako ng wala sa oras,” I said to her, and slowly taking off all the cloth on my body, she looked at me.
“Mamatay ka kung patanga-tanga ka doon, kaya kailangan mong mag sanay, may dalawang araw at isang gabi kapa para mag sanay,” she said, and she got the deer from the kitchen. It was still alive.
She signaled me to drink the blood of the deer. I narrowed my eyes at the deer. Should I kill this thing?
“Kung hindi ka iinom ng dugo mauubusan ka ng lakas,” she said and go upstairs. Nakipag titigan na muna ako sa usa bago na isipan na uminom na dahil ilang araw na rin na kamote lang ang kinakain ko.
I take a deep breath and say sorry to the deer. “Forgive me,” I say to the deer as if it will answer me. I tightly close my eyes and let my fangs out, biting on the deer's neck.
Halos mawala ako sa aking sarili ng malasahan ko na ang dugo—every gulp that I make it's making more of my throat dryer, sinaid ko ang dugo na maski patak ay wala ng matira, I want more, my strength seems to be back, pakiramdam ko ay natulog ako ng napaka tagal.
“Bilisan mo na at magsibak kana ng kahoy” Helenora said as she walked down, I just nodded and went outside. I picked up the ax, “Makisama ka naman sana ngayon,” I murmured at the ax, and started to chop the woods.
I closed my eyes and stared to focus on my aura up to the ax. I took a deep breath and started giving all my strength and chop.
I smiled as I quickly split the wood. I just continued what I was doing until I was done.
“Pagkatapos niyan ay isalansan mo lahat 'yan sa lagayan, at mangaso ka kung ayaw mong kamote na naman ang kakainin mo,” she said when she got out of the hut. I looked at her and nodded.
Sinunod ko lahat ng kanyang sinabi, I slowly pile all the wood that I already chopped on the small hut for woods, after I pile, I get the bow and arrow, and I bid my goodbye to her.
She gave me a small seed, she said this serves as my portal when I want to come back here, and she only gave me one seed.
“Ingatan mong huwag mawala ang buto,” she said, and she gave me a cloak.
“Baka p'wedeng dalawa ang ibigay mo,” I said to her. What if I lose this seed? Paano na ako makakabalik sa tamang oras?
“Isa nalang 'yan, kaya ingatan mong huwag mawala; bahala kana sa buhay mo kung hindi ka makakabalik sa tamang oras,” she said to me and pushed me to the gate.
She waved her hand at me while the gate was still open, and I looked at her in disbelief. Para siyang bata— I shook my head and put my cloak on.
“Mag iingat ka,” she said, and when I looked at the gate, the hut was already gone.
I start to walk. I don't know where I am going. I tightly hold the seed in my pocket. I said to myself and passed by the small lake.
I stopped at the small stream first, this is the stream that is right near the hut. It was very clear, naisipan kong maligo na muna dahil mahaba pa naman ang araw, and I soaked my body until I was fed up.
Kaagad akong napa ahon ng may narinig akong kaluskos sa hindi kalayuan—shit what is that? I hid in the tree while putting my clothes on.
There's a number of groups holding a creature from hell, inaamoy nila ang bawat nadadaanan ko, suddenly Helenora appeared in their front smiling, and I think they're friends.
I was stunned when I heard the rogue speak about me.
“Saan mo tinatago ang anak ni Lauren,” she asks Helenora, but Helenora seems unbothered and she smiled at them nicely.
“Buhay pala ang anak ni Lauren?” she asked them like she's surprised at what she heard.
“Huwag mo nang itago pa,” the rogue says and walks around with the creatures from hell sniffing all around the ground.
“Wala akong tinatago, baka nakakalimutan niyong teritoryo ko ito.” Helenora spoke with her head held high. She aimed her fingers at the rogue with the threat of her eyes.
Wala nang magawa sila at tumalikod na “Binabantayan ka namin,” the rogues say before they enter the portal.
“Naka bantay rin ako sa inyo,” Helenora answered before the portal disappeared.
