I was sitting on the beach, letting the waves hit my feet and I just watched them. I was looking out to the horizon. I felt someone walk up.

"I swear to god Sammy I will throw sand in your eyes." I said annoyed.

"Not Sammy." I heard the voice say and I saw Ari standing there. "May I sit?" Ari asked and I shrugged, and he sat down next to me.

"Sorry about the threat, Sammy isn't my favorite person right now." I said and Ari half nodded.

"We all gathered that." Ari said and gave me a small smile and I just sighed.

"I was gone 6 months. I know he thought I was dead, but he is now engaged to my sister..." I said and Ari looked at me confused.

"Kelsie is your sister?" Ari asked and I nodded.

"My baby sister. She is 2 years younger than me." I said and Ari groaned. "What?" I asked.

"Well right before we left, she was trying to come with Sammy, not wanting to leave him. All she would say is he knew what happened before and she couldn't let it happen to him." Ari said and I groaned.

"Right, me dying. She doesn't want anything to happen to her precious fiancé." I said. I felt tears stinging my eyes.

"I'm sorry you got left behind before." Ari said and I looked at him.

"You weren't on the mission or the one who made me distract the terrorist." I said and Ari shook his head with a smile.

"No, I didn't but I'm a firm believer in no man...or in this case woman left behind." Ari said and I gave a small nod.

"I might have to hold you to that." I said and Ari nodded.

"I want you to." Ari said and I smiled. We sat in silence for a few minutes.

"So can I ask...how did you get away from them after being shot?" Ari asked and I sighed.

"Played dead. They shot me twice. I just laid in the sand and when they came near me I stopped breathing. Nettie saved me once they were gone." I said and Ari sighed.

"How did you not bleed out?" Ari asked and I sighed.

"That's the part that causes pain. My shoulder wound -..." I said pulling down my sleeve on my shirt so he could see "That was getting hit by the salt water so it kind of cauterized the wound while I laid in the water." I said and Ari sucked in air through his teeth.

"And the leg?" Ari asked and I looked down at the scare.

"Did hit anything major. Bled more when I dug the bullet out." I said and Ari shook his head with a smile.

"Damn." Ari said and I gave a small laugh.

"Yeah...so it's just been Nettie, her husband and son with me for the past 6 months." I said. Ari sighed and placed a hand over mind that was on the beach beside me.

"I promise you, when this is all over you will be going home." Ari said. I sighed, removed my hand and looked at him.

"I had a guy promise me that once before. He left me on the beach and is now marrying my sister. I don't have any more sisters Ari so don't make promises you can't keep." I said, getting up and walking back to the resort leaving Ari sitting in the sand. I walked up to Nettie inside the main lobby area.

"Hand me some paper and a pen." I said she sighed.

"What are you doing?" Nettie asked.

"What I need to." I said and he handed me what I needed. I walked to a table and sat down.

-Dear Kelsie and Dad,
Don't panic reading this, hell I don't even know if you'll get the letter. This is weird writing this but I'm alive. Been alive the entire time. The past 6 months are hard to explain but just know it's no one's fault, I got shot twice and they thought I was dead, but I survived.
I don't know what Sammy has told you, but I know he did. I also know he and Kelsie are now engaged. Fuck you, Kelsie. You always had a crush on Sammy, and you took your chance thinking I was out of the picture now.
Listen, I'm not going to hash this out in a letter to you letting you both know I'm alive and you know after this I will have no contact.
I won't promise to make it home because as we know, it's always iffy but just know I have been alive this entire time. I have changed, things have changed, life has changed.
I love you guys and I hope to see you soon.
Love, Jo-

Once I was done writing the letter and read it over. I then walked up and dropped the notepad off at the desk, grabbed an envelope and then walked back to find Ari. I saw him walking down the beach.

"Hey! Ari!" I yelled and he stopped walking, and I caught up to him.

"Everything okay?" Ari asked and I sighed and handed him the letter.

"I don't know when you are having your first mission, but I need you to get this to a seal to get to Ethan Levin to get to my family. They need to know..." I said and Ari nodded.

"Your dad and sister?" Ari asked and I nodded.

"Yes." I said.

"Why not give this to Sammy to get to a seal?" Ari said.

"Easy, you're team leader, right?" I asked and he half nodded.

"Yes..."

"Okay so team leader and if I gave it to Sammy, I don't trust him to pass it on. He likes the lying right now and I just need my family to know I'm alive." I said Ari sighed. He placed it in his back pocket.

"I will do what I can, but can you do something for me?" Ari asked.

"What?" I asked.

"Help us with the missions. The woman and children need to see a friendly face when we are smuggling them, a woman even. So, join my team." Ari said.
