It had been a month, and everything had been going well at the resort, except for the diplomates lying to Ari and now we were having guests stop by and stay at the resort. I was serving some food in the dining area, and I saw Ari.
"Can we talk?" I asked Ari and he nodded. We walked out to the beach.
"I have been thinking about what you asked of me..." I said and Ari sighed with a nod.
"You have a decision?"
"I do but I need to know I will be safe Ari, I can't have a replay of last time." I said and he nodded. We stopped walking and he turned to look at me.
"I promise you Jo, you will be safe. I will even stay by your side if you need me to. Be my co-leader..." Ari said and I shook my head.
"I don't think I can even co-lead another mission Ari." I said and looked down at the sand. He placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Jordan, you were a leader last time, you sacrificed yourself for you team and the mission. It didn't pan out well, but you did it. I can't imagine anyone else I would want to be my co-leader than you." Ari said and I sighed and placed my hand over his on my shoulder.
"Okay..." I said and Ari smiled. Before anything else could be said Sammy was walking towards us on the beach.
"We got the trucks ready." Sammy said and Ari nodded.
"Good, we will start planning. Jo, will be riding with us when we do go." Ari said and Sammy looked at me shocked.
"You're helping?" Sammy asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, the women sometimes don't trust men, they need to see a woman." I said and Sammy just sighed.
"Jo..." Sammy said.
"Sammy! You don't get a say in this, and I feel like I'm ready." I said and Sammy shook his head.
"You can barely run now, and you want to be put in that situation again?! You want to damage your leg further?!" Sammy asked raising his voice. Ari just looked at him.
"Hey! I think I can make my own choices! I won't use myself as bait again." I said.
"Yes, you will! You did it the first time you will do it again!" Sammy yelled.
"I think I know better this time Sammy! I lost everything the last time!" I yelled and shoved Sammy.
"You lost everything because you had to be the damn hero! You aren't ready to do this again Jordan! Stay here at the resort! That's an order!" Sammy yelled.
"Oh, are you fucking kidding me?! An order?! You don't get order me around! Not then, not now especially not now with you fucking my sister because you thought I was dead!" I yelled. Ari looked around and noticed guests from the resort and crew members alike were watching.
"Okay you two...time to cool it please." Ari said.
"Stay out of this! This is between Jordan and I." Sammy said taking a step towards me and Ari stepped between us.
"Walk away Sammy, walk away from this situation right now." Ari growled. Sammy looked over his shoulder at me then back at Ari.
"She doesn't go Ari, I don't give a shit what you say." Sammy said and walked away. Once he was gone, I turned to look out at the ocean. I took a couple deep breaths and just tried to calm myself.
"You know he left me here to die, he got to have a life and move on with someone, albeit my sister but still. I was stuck here, no way out, no way home, injured and having to perform surgery on myself. After that having to hide whenever the terrorist were to come and do a check. I have been through so much Ari and no one has any fucking clue what I have gone through!" I said and Ari nodded.
"No one is saying that Jo..."
"Sammy is!" I said annoyed.
"Sammy is just being an ass." Ari said and I looked at him as he gave a small smirk. I sighed. "Let's walk and calm down. Talk about the mission." Ari said and I nodded as we started walking down the beach.

It was a few weeks later and it was time for the mission. I was sitting on the beach just waiting for time. Soon someone was sitting beside me, and I saw Sammy.
"So, you going tonight or not?"
"I'm going, I'm helping. I need to do it. Ari asked me to be co-leader and I accepted. He knows this was my mission to begin with."
"A mission you failed." Sammy said and I groaned.
"I did fail! You got everyone! I can't help that they kept gathering in the camps!" I said and Sammy sighed. I got up and brushed the sand off of me.
"I need to go get ready." I said. Sammy got up with me as we walked back to the resort. Ari came out and saw us walking back. As I was walking my leg gave out on me and I almost fell. Sammy grabbed me as Ari rushed over.
"You okay?" Ari asked and I sighed with a nod rubbing my leg.
"Yeah. that can happen sometimes." I said.
"This is why you need to fucking stay and not go! If we get caught and have to run, you can't run." Sammy said.
"You want to see me run, you want to race me? Like we used to back in the day?" I asked and Sammy just shook his head and huffed a laugh.
"You can't run." Sammy said and I groaned.
"Come on." I said and walked back to the beach. I turned when he wasn't coming with me. "You chicken?" I asked. Sammy scoffed and followed. Ari came with us.
"Hundred-meter dash?" I asked and he nodded. We walked to the roundabout place to start, and we told Ari where to stand.
"First one to touch Ari's hand wins." Sammy said and I nodded.
"GO!" Ari yelled from where he was standing. I took off as did Sammy. I zoned out of everything as I ran. I didn't stop until I felt myself touch Ari's outreached hand which he held on to me for a minute.
"You okay?" Ari whispered and I nodded as I slightly winced in pain.
"She left you in the dust Sammy. I think she is fine to go on the mission." Ari said and Sammy just sighed and nodded but saw Ari still holding my hand, so he quickly dropped it. I looked at Ari and gave a sweet smile as I walked away.
"What was that?" Sammy asked Ari.
"What?" Ari asked.
"Holding her hand...what was that?" Sammy asked.
"Just holding on in case she fell. She was damn sure to beat you and I didn't want her to fall or something. Calm the hell down." Ari said and started to walk away from Sammy.
"We leave in an hour. Get ready. Jordan is riding with us." Ari said and continued to walk back to the main building on the resort.
