It had been a couple weeks and it was time for another smuggling mission. Ari was already out of bed when I got up, going for a run without me and I was fine with that. When I did wake up, I went to walk on my leg and collapsed back down on the bed.
"Fucking fantastic." I said and groaned getting back up but not baring any weight on the leg. I easily got dressed for the day and hopped to the door of the bedroom and then leaned on the wall the whole way out. Rachel saw me first.
"Oh god Jo!" She said and rushed over putting my arm around her shoulder and Jake rushed to my other side and helped me to a chair in the dining room, the helped me prop my leg up.
"Thanks guys." I said.
"What's wrong?" Rachel asked and I sighed.
"I don't know but putting weight on my leg this morning was not an option." I said.
"Maybe have Sammy look at it." Max said and I just looked at him and groaned.
"He is the only doctor here..." I said and everyone nodded. Ari came walking in from having a morning run and saw me up.
"Hey. Good morning." He said giving me a small kiss.
"Good morning." I said and Ari then saw my leg propped up.
"What's wrong?" Ari asked.
"I can't bare any weight on my leg. I barely made it out here." I said and Ari groaned.
"You can't go tonight then." Ari said and I nodded.
"I know but where is Sammy?" I asked. Ari looked at me in shock. "He needs to look at my leg Ari." I said and he sighed but nodded.
"Here, he is out back, let me take you to the room and then he came come check on you. Jake, can you go get him?" Ari asked and he nodded as I wrapped my arms around Ari's neck, and he lifted me up and I winced in pain. "I'm sorry baby, I know it hurts." Ari said and I just rest my head on his shoulder fighting back the tears. Ari and I got to our room, and he laid me down on the bed. I sat up against the headboard and Sammy knocked.
"Come in." Ari said and Sammy came walking in the room.
"What's going on?" Sammy asked.
"I need you to check my leg. I can't bare weight on it." I said and Sammy came over and he knelt beside the bed and Ari came to the other side of the bed. I took his hand as Sammy felt around the old scar and I squeezed Ari's hand a few times.
"Sorry Jo..." Sammy said, and I shook my head. Sammy then felt around my thigh and groaned.
"What?" I asked.
"You've been doing too much, and the muscle is inflamed. It will go down eventually but I need you off of it for a couple of days or at least let me get you crutches. I think I saw some in the old building they used for first aid." Sammy said and I nodded.
"Thanks Sammy, can I take any painkillers?" I asked and he nodded.
"I got some stuff in my medical bag I can give you. Give me time to get everything." Sammy said and I nodded as he walked out. I leaned into Ari, and he wrapped his arms around me.
"Please promise me you will be safe tonight since I can't go." I said and looking up at Ari. He sighed but nodded.
"I promise I will come back to you." Ari said and I smiled.
"You better." I said. He smiled leaning down giving me a small kiss.
"I love you." Ari said when we broke apart and I just looked at him in shock.
"You do?" I asked and he chuckled.
"Yes, I do. I love you." Ari said and I smiled.
"I love you too." I said and he smiled. He pulled me closer to him and held me a little tighter. Now with these feelings and emotions in play, I didn't know where we would be once this was all over.

Sammy got me crutches and I walked out to the trucks with everyone that night and Ari walked up to me.
"Get inside with Rachel and listen to the radio feed." Ari said and I nodded.
"I will, please just come back safe." I said. I was very worried about this mission, and I couldn't explain why.
"I will I promise. I love you, Jo." Ari said and cupped my face as he passionately kissed me.
"I love you too." I said once we broke apart. We watched them get into trucks and drive away.
"Okay gimpy girl let's get you inside and get that leg propped up." Rachel said and we both laughed.
"Don't make fun of the handicapped Rachel, it's not nice." I said as we continued to laugh and headed inside the room where everything was set up and just waited.
I wasn't sure how long we had been waiting. We finally heard that had picked up the group and were on the way to the beach. I just sat spinning my wedding band on my finger, nervous.
"So, Ari told you he loved you..." Rachel said obviously trying to keep me calm.
"And I told him I loved him." I said and Rachel smiled.
"Good, I think the two of you are an amazing match. I have known Ari for a few years now and I can honestly say I'm happy he has found someone who understands his life. His ex-wife didn't understand." Rachel said and I sighed.
"Does he never see his daughter?" I asked and Rachel slightly nodded.
"He tries. It's always a toss-up with how his ex-wife's attitude is." Rachel said and I just half nodded.
"We have arrived at the beach, going silent." Ari's voice came over the radio.
I smiled slightly knowing they made it, and it was almost over. I just wanted Ari in my arms.
"Guys, we have company." I heard Max say on the radio after about 5 minutes of silence.
"Say again?" Ari replied. I could tell he was down by the water meaning Irving was the lookout.
"We have company." Max said. I knew then it was Colonel Abdel and his army.
"What kind of company?" Ari asked.
"Shit, shit, shit." Max said.
"Can you be more specific?" Ari asked.
"Military jeeps approaching from the north, I see three, four jeeps." Max said.
I placed my head in my hands.
"Fuck..." I mumbled. Then silence until a few minutes later.
"We're taking on heavy fire!" A soldier yelled and I heard the gunshots. I started to have flashbacks of my last mission.
"Rachel..." I said and she grabbed my hand. Silence, silence was the worst.
"All taxis are away. Navy Seal's been hit. I repeat, Navy Seal's been hit." A soldier said over the radio, and I felt tears fill my eyes.
"A dozen or so targets have been identified. Permission to engage?" A Seal asked from one of the rafts.
"No! Do not engage! If you engage, it's all over. I'll handle it." Ari yelled and I just groaned even louder.
"Ari! God damnit!" I said and threw my cup I had water in against the wall.
"Hey, calm down...they might let them go. Ari is good with stories." Rachel said.
"They're being arrested. Repeat, team leader's being arrested." Max said. I looked at Angela with tears in my eyes.
"It's all over. He's gone..." I said, grabbed my crutches and walked back to mine and Ari's room. I laid in bed, grabbed his pillow to hold on to and just broke down in tears.
