(A/n: time to get a little emotional.)
"You're grounded."•••
Practice was crazy, with Eli's new look and all. Or I guess I should say, Hawks new look. It's going to take a while for me to get used to calling him that, because to me right now he's still just Eli. With cooler clothes, and cooler hair. Pair that with a whole newfound form of confidence!
"Today was insane right?"
Mohawk leaned into my shoulder, throwing me off balance as we walked side by side down the street. The neighbourhood was practically dead. There were no cars, no kids outside. Just me and Eli walking home after a long day of training.
At least it was still warm out, with a cooler breeze this time around. Now we weren't walking in the scorching heat, or the direct beaming rays of the sun. Above us, was a dark blue sky with pink and orange accents. No clouds in the sky, and just the sun setting.
It was peaceful, and for a moment it was calm.
Just me and Eli.
Alone together..
I should probably thank him for walking with me. Usually he would just head straight home, but he insisted on coming with me. Claiming it was sketchy at this time around where I lived. Which he wasn't entirely wrong, this area has had four robberies in the past two weeks. It was better to be safe then sorry.
"You like it?" I asked him, trying to keep my attention on his eyes but his blue spiky hair was distracting me. The whole thing caught me off guard.
"Hell yeah! I can't wait to be as strong as you and Miguel."
I'm probably blushing really hard again. I was used to his occasional compliments, but this time was different. There was a shift in the air, I could feel it and I knew he did too.
"And fast."
"What?!"
"That's right! Slow poke..." I grin, knowing he's slower than me. Even Miguel admitted I was the fastest in the class. No one, not even Sensei could keep up with me half of the time.
He nudges me playfully again.
"Nah, nah, nah! I'm faster than you!"
"Not a chance Mohawk" I shake my head vigorously.
"Fine. But I will beat you one of these days! Just watch." He tackled me in his arms, pulling my body into his chest. Eli ran his fingers through my sweaty hair, making a complete mess. Still the feeling was unmatched by anything else.
