I drove up to the gate of the house and stopped hitting the call button.
"Hello?" I heard Chris ask.
"It's Geneva." I said and the gate opened. I smiled as it did and I drove in. Once I parked I saw a cars and I sighed knowing this wasn't as many people as I thought. I didn't know what he had told these people about me or what to expect being here. I parked my car and got out walking to the front door as it opened.
"Hey." Chris said looking at me and I smiled. We hugged when I reached the door.
"Hey." I said and we walked in.
"Everyone is out back, come on out." Chris said and I smiled. As we started through the house a white and brown dog came running in.
"Dodger, right?" I asked and Chris nodded.
"Yeah, he loves new people so you will be his favorite person since he knows everyone else." Chris said and I laughed. I petted him and he walked outside with us, beside me.
"Everyone, this is Geneva." Chris said as everyone watched us walk out.
"The girl from the bar!" Scott said and I huffed a laugh.
"Yeah, that's me." I said.
"My brother Scott, his boyfriend Steve." Chris said and then he kept pointing at people as he introduced them. "My sister Shanna and her husband Graham. Sister Carly with her husband Ryan and their kids, Ethan, Miles and Stella. My best friend Tara, her husband Jason with their daughter Winnie. Then my Ma, Lisa." Chris said and I smiled at everyone.
"Nice to meet all of you." I said feeling slightly overwhelmed.
"Great to meet you." Lisa said coming over and giving me a hug and I smiled.
"Can I get you something to drink?" Chris asked and I smiled.
"Yeah, whatever beer you have." I said and he smiled and walked away.
"So, Chris said he went to your brother's wedding last night." Lisa said as Tara joined us with his sisters, and I huffed a laugh.
"Yeah, he and my brother set it up, I guess. The night I met Chris I had to rush out to get to work and forgot to give him my number. My brother gave it to him but also invited him to the wedding." I said and everyone gave a small laugh.
"And it was at the aquarium?" Tara asked and I nodded.
"Yeah, it was pretty amazing." I said and they smiled as Chris brought me a beer and I smiled at him.
"Okay! Corn hole time!" Scott yelled and we all laughed.
"Can you play?" Chris asked and I laughed.
"Heck yeah! I'm the reigning champ in my family." I said and everyone looked at Chris.
"Well, I'm the reigning champ in my family." Chris said and I sighed.
"Well then Evans I say we play against each other and put this to rest..." I said and Chris nodded.
"Bring it." Chris said as we walked to the part of the yard set up with the cornhole board.
💛 💛 💛
"Bow to your queen!" I said to Chris as we finished playing and I had won. Everyone laughed and Chris shook his head while laughing.
"I demand a rematch soon!" Chris said and I smiled.
"Name the time and place." I said as we all headed inside.
"Okay so I think it's time we bring back the Evans Family cook out tradition." Shanna said and Chris looked at her and smiled.
