We had been in Hawaii for a few days and Chris had worked every day since we got here, except for dinner when we arrived. I was getting ready in the hotel room to go to the beach and just relax. As I finished getting dressed my cellphone rang.
"Hello?"
"Miss Collins?" The voice asked.
"This is she." I said.
"Miss Collins, this is Melissa Scott from Massachusetts General Hospital." She said and I knew it was the lady I had set my interview up with a few days before we left for Hawaii.
"Oh yes, Miss Scott, how are you?" I asked sitting on the foot of the bed.
"I'm well, thank you. Listen I know you said you were on vacation for about a week and a half. The problem is there is an issue with scheduling, and we only have an opening for interviews in 2 days. Is it possibly you could come in?"
I just blew out some air and looked up at the ceiling.
"Um...shouldn't be a problem. What time?" I asked.
"How does 10am sound?" She asked and I groaned inwardly knowing jetlag and everything was going to be a bitch.
"Sounds perfect, I will be there." I said and I got up and grabbed a pair of jeans and a t-shirt from my suitcase.
"Perfect, we look forward to seeing you."
She hung up and I groaned. I quickly got changed and called the number Chris gave me if I wanted to get a car to go to set. Once I got down to the car the driver helped me load my luggage into the car. I knew I would have to get home ASAP so I would have time to adjust to he time change.
"Can you take me to set and then wait for me please?" I asked the driver.
"Of course, ma'am." He said and I pulled out my cellphone.GENEVA: You filming?
CHRIS: About to go on break, why?
GENEVA: On my way, we need to talk.
I knew this would panic him, so I needed to fix that wording.
GENEVA: Please don't worry, its nothing horrible or anything...
CHRIS: Okay, I'll see you when you get here, even though I'm worried.
I sighed and put my phone away. Once we got to set, the driver opened my door for me and I got out with my set pass and started walking set.
"Geneva!" I heard my name called out and I looked to see Dwyane and Chris sitting together at a craft services table, eating. I smiled and walked over. Dwyane hugged me and I smiled, then I walked over and Chris who stood up and gave me a small kiss.
"Can we talk?" I asked Chris and he nodded as we walked off to the side and Chris sighed seeing my face.
"What's wrong?" Chris asked.
"The lady that I have been dealing with at the hospital called me a little bit ago. They have a scheduling conflict, and they need me to interview in 2 days. I have to go home. I'm heading home now..." I said and Chris just looked at me and sighed.
"Oh...are you coming back?" Chris asked and I just shrugged.
"I mean would it be worth it? I've been here 4 days and only seen you for a few hours in that time. You are filming and working. I know that's why we are here, but we eat dinner in the room some nights and then go to bed. I just think I will stay at home." I said and Chris sighed.
"Eva..." Chris trailed off.
"What Chris? You really want me to come back so I can go to the beach by myself, go shopping by myself and even go to bed by myself some nights? I would just rather do all of that at home where I know where I am." I said. Chris hung his head. "I don't say this to make you feel bad." I said.
"Well, you're not doing the best job." Chris said and I groaned.
"Listen, I have to go, I have the car waiting. I love you and I will see you when you get home." I said and Chris just half nodded. I wrapped my arms around his midsection, and he just looked down at me as I had tears in my eyes. "If I didn't have to go, I wouldn't." I said.
"Then don't. You don't need to work Geneva, I have told you this." Chris said.
"It's not about needing to work Chris, I want to work. I want to help people." I said and he sighed. He just leaned down and gave me a passionate kiss.
"I'll miss you." Chris said, I placed my forehead on his chest as he wrapped his arms tightly around me.
"I'll miss you more." Chris said. I lifted my head, and he kissed me again.
"I better go." I said and he groaned.
"I'll walk you to the car." Chris said taking my hand when we released each other.
"You leaving already?" Dwyane asked.
"Yeah, a job interview got moved so I have to head home." I said and he sighed.
"Well, it sucks you have to leave but I look forward to seeing you at the premiere." Dwyane said and I smiled as we walked to the car.
"Have you noticed Emily and Dwyane want to see me at these premieres?" I asked and Chris laughed and nodded.
"Looks like I have to keep you around then huh?" Chris asked and I nodded.
"I think so." I said as we got to the car. Chris opened the back door for me.
"Let me know when you get home." Chris said and I nodded. He leaned in and passionately kissed me, and I moaned as he did. Once we broke apart, he placed his forehead against mine.
"I will call and get you a ticket at the airport..." Chris said, and I shook his head.
"No, it's okay I can get it."
"I got it." Chris said and I sighed just letting his win this fine.
"Fine. I love you." I said getting in the car.
"I love you." Chris said and closed the door to the car. Once it pulled away, I looked at the driver.
"Airport please." I said and he nodded. I then just looked out the window and wiped he tears from my cheeks that had fallen.
***CHRIS POV***
I walked back to the set and sat down where I had been.
"So, she is going back to Boston?" Dwyane asked.
"Yeah, a job interview got moved up and she needed to get home." I said and Dwyane nodded.
"I'm sorry Chris. I know you were trying to plan the perfect proposal for tonight." Dwyane said and I shrugged.
"Yeah, I know...but I guess I will just go to plan C." I said.
"What's plan C?" Dwyane asked.
"I have no clue." I said and we both chuckled as I called the airport.
