"Chris." I said.
"Was that song about me?" Chris asked.
He looked hurt, angry, upset...a whole slew of emotions.
"What do you think?" I asked.
"Don't be sarcastic Geneva, was it about me?"
"I'm not being sarcastic...I want an answer. Do you think it was?" I asked and he sighed and hung his head.
"Yes, I do." Chris finally said in a small voice.
"It was, so good answer." I said and went to leave the office, leaving my guitar.
"I want to talk to you Geneva." Chris said grabbing my arm gently. I just looked at him in shock.
"Now you want to talk? Now that I sang a song about how I feel, you want to talk." I said and Chris groaned.
"I have been wanting to call you for a week but I didn't think you would want to hear from me." Chris said.
"A week Chris?! I would have picked up! I was waiting for you to call! I thought about calling you but thought you had all but forgotten about me." I said and Chris shook his head.
"I never could Geneva. You have been in every waking thought, every memory, every thought through out the day and the last thing on my mind before I go to bed." Chris said and placed a hand on my cheek.
"You have really been thinking about me that much?" I asked.
"I have, constantly. I want to be with you Geneva, I don't care what anyone says. I want to be with you." Chris said and I sighed.
"If I was every thought in your mind every day you would have gotten the balls to call me. You want to be together so bad Chris, you could have called. I wont be with you just because you now feel bad because the song showed you how bad you made me feel. I don't want you to be with me out of pity." I said and Chris groaned.
"What do you want me to do to prove that this is what I want?" Chris asked.
"I don't know, I guess you'll just have to figure it out." I said and walked out of the office leaving Chris standing there. I walked to the bar and looked at Gary who was looking at me.
"I noticed Chris came back to see you..." Gary said and I groaned.
"Yeah you've missed a lot." I said and we gave a small laugh. He set a beer down in front of me.
"So I gathered. Want to fill me in?" Gary asked and I just shrugged.
"I just misread signs from Chris. Thought he was serious and he wasn't looking to be serious so...there was that." I said and Gary groaned.
"Want me to beat him up?" Gary asked and I laughed.
"No...I'm good thank you." I said and he laughed.
"So why did he come back to the office?"
"Because he wanted to tell me he made his decision and wants to be with me but I don't know, I'm having an issue believing him." I said and Gary sighed.
"Would it hurt to give him a chance?" Gary asked.
"He could hurt me..." I said and looked down at the bar. Gary went to say something but a customer called for him. He patted my one hand and then walked away.
I was sitting, contemplating everything that happened when I heard someone clear their throat the microphone.
"This is the biggest grand gesture I could think to do to prove that I'm serious." I heard Chris's voice say and I was looking at him shocked and as he started playing the keyboard on the stage.
🎵 Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the Beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the Beast🎵Once Chris was done on stage he got up to applause and then walked right over to me. I wasn't able to stop watching as he played and sang. I had tears in my eyes when he approached me and took ahold of my hands.
"How did you know that was my favorite Disney movie?" I asked trying to hold off tears but some escaped.
"I didn't Eva, I just wanted to show you I want to be with you. I want this with us." Chris said. I took a hold of his hands.
"Can we get out of here, away from prying eyes and talk?" I asked and he laughed.
"Yes please." Chris said and I laughed as he threw some money on the counter on the bar to cover my beer and tip and we quickly walked out of the bar.
