A few days after the premiere Chris and I were sitting cuddled on his couch watching some tv when his cellphone rang. He grabbed his phone from the coffee table and then tossed it back on the table once he saw who it was.
"Who was it?" I asked.
"No one." Chris said and I sighed. It started ringing again and I groaned since he was planning on ignoring it. I sat up and quickly grabbed his phone and saw it was his mom calling him.
"Answer your mother." I said and he took the phone and tossed it on the table again. I just looked at him annoyed.
"Okay I'm the only one in the relationship allowed to ignore her parents, we both can't. You need to answer the phone." I said and it started ringing again. He was letting it go. I groaned leaned forward and grabbed his phone quickly again.
"Hello?" I answered and Chris groaned getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen.
"Is this Geneva?" She asked and I smiled.
"It is. And you're Lisa, correct?" I asked.
"Ma or Ma Lisa would be just fine but yes." She said and I smiled. "Is my son around?" She asked and I sighed.
"He is busy at the moment..." I said.
"He's ignoring me, I know he is. So I will talk to you about what I wanted to ask him." Lisa said and I laughed.
"Sounds good." I said.
"Well, I was wanting to invite you and Chris over to the house on Sunday for dinner. It would be a family affair. I know we had all met already but we would love to get to know you on a level of being Chris's girlfriend." Lisa said.
"Well, I will talk to Chris and one of us will let you know." I said.
"Sounds great, thank you Geneva."
"You're welcome Ma Lisa." I said and we both gave a small laugh as we hung up and Chris came walking back in.
"What did she want? Yell at me for the premiere some more?" Chris asked.
"She yelled at you?" I asked.
"Oh yeah, that night. When I couldn't get a hold of you, I called her because I needed someone to keep me grounded and to stop me from canceling all appearances so I could jump on a plane and come home to you. She called me every name in the book and going off on me for hurting you like I did." Chris said and I sighed.
"Chris she was just upset. Now she is inviting us to dinner on Sunday. She says its time they all meet me as your girlfriend and not someone just from a cookout." I said and Chris laughed.
"I guess she's right but don't forget Sunday morning we are doing breakfast with Iris." Chris said and I groaned.
"Yeah, I'm canceling that with my mother." I said and Chris just looked at me shocked.
"Why?"
"Because all she wants to do it grill you and get on your case about the photos." I said and Chris sighed.
"We know it would come from everyone. We can just have breakfast with your mom and dinner with my family. It will be fine." Chris said and I sighed. He leaned down and kissed me.
Once we broke apart, we decided to go take Dodger for a walk so we could just get out of the house. As we were walking Chris sighed catching me off guard.
"What?" I asked.
"In a few weeks I have to go to LA for some press things and Netflix meetings for another movie I have coming out this fall. I want you to come with me." Chris said and I smiled at him.
"Really?" I asked and he nodded.
"I do, I should have made it so Tara let you go to New York, but I didn't, and it almost ruined us. I don't want anything to happen again." Chris said and I sighed.
"If you are just taking me for safety and reassurance in the relationship...." I trailed off and Chris stopped walking and pulled me to him.
"No, of course not. I mean maybe in a way, but I also want you there Eva. You are my girlfriend, and you should go with me to these things." Chris said and I nodded with a smiled as we continued walking.
"Well since I'm not working right now, I guess it would be okay." I said and Chris sighed.
"You want to talk about that?" Chris asked and I shook my head.
"No, no point. I mean I will eventually want to work or find something to do but as of right now I love you and I'm just loving spending time with you. A job that would let me go because of who I'm with is screwed up. I am still getting half pay from the nursing home, and I have some savings...I'll be okay for a while." I said and Chris smiled.
"Well, I just don't want to keep you from anything. You ever want to try and find a job and get back to work you know I fully support you in that choice. If you never want to work again, I support, you in that choice as well." Chris said and I smiled.
"I know you do but let's get one thing clear, I want your support in my life but not financially. I don't need you to worry about covering anything for me." I said and he nodded.
"That will be hard for me, but I get it. But seriously Eva, you get in a jam I will help you out." Chris said and I sighed.
"Only if I ask..."
"You are too stubborn to ask for help." Chris said.
"I know, so my point exactly." I said and we both laughed as we continued to walk. "So new movie at Netflix?" I asked and he nodded.
"Yeah, it was filmed already but just have some promotional meetings to have and go over." Chris said. I then gasped and Chris looked at me.
"Is this the movie with Emily Blunt and Andy Garcia?!" I asked and Chris chuckled.
"Yeah, Pain Hustlers." Chris said and I squealed.
"I love Emily Blunt! I think she is amazing!" I said and Chris smiled.
"Well, I guess it's a good thing you are coming to LA with me. I planned a dinner with Emily and her husband so we can all go together." Chris said and I looked at him in more shock and then blushed. "You have a crush on John, don't you?" Chris asked and I nodded. He laughed.
"Something about those Boston boys that gets to me." I said and Chris laughed. He stopped walking, leaned down and brushed his lips to mine.
"As long as I'm your number one Boston boy." Chris said in a thick Boston accent.
"Always." I said as he leaned down and passionately kissed me.
