"wanda!" i clutched her arm as the tears began to fall down her cheeks. a heart-wrenching scream left her lips as she crumpled to her knees bringing me down with her. a wave of red spread around us instantly disintegrating the robots that had just come in for us as wanda cried. she clung to my shirt as strings of denial left her lips, "no no pietro..."i knew instantly those shots had taken him from her. i looked up to the sky trying to find the aircraft that had fired them only to see the hulk leap up to it and then snatch ultron from the cockpit.

he fell back down to the city and wanda lifted her head just in time to see where he had fallen. her body stiffened as she glared in the direction he had fallen before wiping her tears with her ring-covered fingers. "get to the ships." she muttered to me as she rose from our spot at the core. "what wanda-" she turned to me her eyes glowing red already. "go, i can handle this on my own."

i knew better than to argue with her despite my gut telling me to.

so i started running.

i hopped over the rubble again as the ships neared my sight but then a small whimper made my ears perk up. i jerked around to find a small girl covered in dust from head to toe, she kneeled beside an upside-down blue car. her small hands held a limp one that had busted through the glass. "hey kid!" her head whipped around and with wide eyes she tried to find some way to hide. i stepped forward slowly and i could now see the two figures inside the car. blood covered the woman's chest as she stared ahead without truly seeing and the man in the driver's seat had an ungodly twist to his neck. it was obvious, she had watched her parents die.

she scrambled around staring at me fearfully. i lifted my hands showing her i wasn't dangerous as i slowly stepped towards her. "hey hey it's ok," i snatched the mask from my face quickly hoping that would help her trust me, "i'm not gonna hurt you." god i hope she understands me. "you're an avenger?" she whispered tilting her head to the side.  "uh y-yeah i guess, but kid we've gotta go. can you come with me?" i held out a hand to her. she looked at it for a moment before looking back at her parents. she knew they were gone she just didn't want to believe it. with a small sniffle, she took my hand and i pulled her from the small hole between the car and the building. i lifted her up on my hip and started running again as she wrapped her arms around my shoulders. the captain spotted me and started waving frantically telling me to hurry.
