"i've gotta go somewhere with uncle steve but i shouldn't be away long," i crouched down in front of her and handed her a phone that couldn't be traced, " you can call me on this whenever you want ok?" the ancient one appeared behind her a moment later with a smile on her bright features. "hello again little one," she said down to juno as the little girl smiled up at her.
she then turned to me, "i see i was right about you becoming a proper hero then?" i chuckled dryly, "i don't know about that right now." she nodded, i know she has been keeping tabs on me since i left for the avengers. "she will be fine here i promise." over her shoulder, i could see wong peak into the courtyard we stood in and i waved to him. "i know," i looked down at juno, "i'll call you soon ok?"she quickly wrapped her arms around me in a tight hug and hid her face in my shoulder, "i love you mom."
i froze for a moment before squeezing her tightly. she had never called me that before. " i love you too juno."

the service was nice despite my confusion about the blonde girl that spoke who was apparently peggy's niece. steve stiffened up just at the sight of her and i made a mental note to ask about her later. after it had ended steve stayed back in the church saying he just needed a minute. i had caught a glimpse of natasha walking into the church but i knew she was only here for comfort and maybe a little bit of persuasion. sam had found a small coffee shop and brought me a cup a while after. he caught my eyes drift to the church door every few seconds after natasha had left a while ago and he nudged my arm. "ya know just because juno isn't here doesn't mean you have to find someone else to worry about. you know once he's set on something he ain't letting it go."
"i know," i sipped my iced coffee allowing it to help my mood just a little, "i've just got a lot on my mind right now." my mind drifted to the accords, then to the lack of news about me being able to go home, then back to the fact that wanda is the only one who knows about my home, then juno, and oddly enough the peter parker across the street from me. a very tangled web indeed. "wanna spill some of it?" he ask with a teasing grin to which i shook my head. my eyes caught sight of steve and the blonde leaving the church to cross the street to a hotel. "not a chance bird brain lets go."
