"everything is gonna be fine." i mouthed to her quickly before the men shoved me down a different hallway than her. i could still hear her thoughts despite the chaos between us and i could feel her nerves calm slightly once she had realized what i had said to her.

the two men at my sides escorted me to a small empty room before sitting me in the metal chair and leaving. it was anyone's guess as to how long i've been locked in here. at first i counted the beige-painted cinder block walls then the ceiling tiles and the small nap i squeezed in was alright. it was evident to anyone who may have been seated on the other side of the one-way glass that i truly didn't care, i mean what's the worst the nypd can do? probably a lot but i wasn't gonna let them know i cared. through the thin walls, i could hear the rambling officers but their words weren't all that clear and i truly didn't care enough to read anyone's mind. i would catch glimpses of peter's thoughts every now and then or juno's. peter was more panicked than juno was, she had been taught what to do a long time ago anyway. she knew not to say too much or anything at all but the smart-ass comments bouncing in her head made me grin.

these officers were digging into all of them. i caught may's thoughts when her mind was practically screaming, they had threatened her with child endangerment. then ned when he had blabbed too much. mj from what i could tell was holding out strong but she was obviously frustrated at some of her interigator's comments. one of the last things i caught from juno's end was the mention of her parents, i could see the flashes running through her head before she caught herself. it was something nat had taught her a little too well, her poker face.

all of this was happening yet i had still not had a single visitor in hours. i knew the sun had long come up just by the growl of my stomach. god if these people wanted to make such a fuss out of all of this then give me some entertainment or something. my prayers were answered a little while later when the door finally cracked open and a new officer walked in. "miss connors, sorry for the long wait." his voice was the same one that had bounced through everyone else's heads. i offered him a sarcastic smile and nodded to the chair opposite from me,"no worries i got a few naps in while you did your little interrogations." he threw a file down on the table before he took the seat, "well at least now you'll be ready to answer my questions hm?" his fingers drummed on the paper file and my eyes darted between it and him. i quirked a brow at him and he straightened up slightly. "due to your past miss connors it is best that you answer my questions or that past can be brought back up to bite you. so with that being said how long have you known that your adopted daughter, miss ambrose, has been the jinx?"
