when his breaths ceased and his heart stopped the cement spikes withdrew from his scaled body and she watched him take his final fall to the dim alley behind the beaten complex. one nightmare, after all these years, was gone. she didn't spare him a final glance, or rather her powers made her senses return to her. there was still a task at hand but she couldn't shake the feeling that had crept up her spine and enveloped her senses. something was off, there was another player in this game. but who?

three explosions sounded at the front of the building making a sense of panic wash over her. she could feel the goosebumps rise on her cut and bloodied arms, this wasn't right. by the time she made it down to the charred lobby she found peter and juno huddled over someone in the rubble. juno's hands were pressed firmly to may's torso trying to stop the bleeding with her powers as the girls lips shook trying to control the tears that threatened her eyes. peter sat staring at the blood that painted the material that covered his hands before he attempted to yell for help. y/n joined the huddle in the debris, the moment her hands touched the woman a sense of deja vu hit her. images of tony stark and george stacy flew through her mind like a whirlwind, the situation just too familiar. may's heartbeat was barely even there despite the attempts juno was making, she was simply too far gone to be brought back. "y-y/n i just need to catch my breath is all...peter w-what's wrong?" may's voice trembled but her grip on her nephew's hand was firm. "nothing may...nothings wrong, you're fine we've got you," the witch whispered into her friend's hair as she hugged her gently ," y-you're gonna be ok."

all three heroes knew that a line of swat officers were stood at the ready outside the busted front entrance of the complex but none of them cared, being with may was more important. y/n gently took juno's shaking hands off of may's wounds so that peter could hold his aunt. he was suppressing his tears but the moment her ragged breathing ceased his shoulder shook with sobs as he whispered to her. "may please..."the two girls heard the boy whisper into his aunt's shirt but she was already gone.

breaks squealed out front and just barely through the rubble the three could make out happy's car blocking the way of the swat team that was getting closer to them. "peter honey," y/n tried her best to keep her voice calm as she shook the boy's shoulders, "peter look at me." she turned his head so that his puffy red eyes finally met hers. "you two have to leave, right now," the boy shook his head at her wanting to hold onto may for as long as he could but their time was running out. "pete i'm sorry but we gotta go," juno said wiping the stray tears from her cheeks with her gloved hands. a tender kiss was pressed to may's forehead from peter as well as rushed whispered apologies. "you two go...i'll make sure she gets out of here," y/n whispered to peter. he was conflicted about her sudden decision but nodded anyway. just as he let go of may's still-warm hand bullets began to rain into the burning lobby.
