_-Rob's POV-_
Emily and I were curled up in her living room, watching her favorite movie, Pitch Perfect. She had her head on my shoulder and my arm was around her waist, our legs tangled. "Rob?" She asked, breaking the silence. "Yeah?" "I... I have to tell you something. And I want you to know... I love you, and that I'm really sorry." She said, whispering the last part as she started to move off me. "I love you too, Em. What's wrong?" I asked, taking her hand. "We... I... There's someone else." She whispered, and tears started falling down her face. "Huh?" I asked. I almost thought it was a joke, but when she turned to me, I could see the pain in her eyes. I knew it was real.
"Em... I..." I couldn't finish a sentence, because the heartbreak and sadness hit me too. "I'm sorry, Rob. I didn't want to hurt you." She cried, wrapping her arms tightly around me. "When.... Who...?" I stuttered. She sighed. "I realized a few weeks ago... Then a few days ago... she said she loved me." She explained. I knew Em was bisexual, so it didn't come as a shock to me that she loved a girl. "Her name is Megan." Em continued. I held her close, and she kept trying to apologize. "It's not your fault. You can't control who you love." I said, but tears kept falling for both of us. "I'm sorry. I'll just leave you alone, I'll say goodbye to the boys and I won't be back in any of your lives." She said, pushing away from me. "Em... No... You can't leave the Pack! We're all still friends... aren't we?" I asked, giving her a sad smile. "Y-Yeah..." she answered. "Then you'll stay. Im not letting you leave just because.... Because we aren't together." the words hit me again as I said them out loud. "This is why I love you, Rob." She smiled. These words stung too, I wouldn't hear her say them ever again; but I smiled through it. "You'll have to introduce me to Megan sometime." I said, standing up. "Yeah. She'd love you." Em answered, a small smile on her lips. "I... I gotta go. Uh... good luck? With Megan, I mean." I struggled, not knowing how to leave without it being awkward. "Thanks, Rob. For everything." She said, hugging me again. "Bye, Em."
I jumped into my car and just sat there for a minute. I leaned my head on the steering wheel, and started to cry again, as the memories of Em and I washed over me like a tidal wave.
After I pulled myself together, I started my car and left. I turned on the radio, not wanting to hear my own sobs.
You got a face not spoiled by beauty, I have some scars from where I've been. You've got eyes that see right through me, You're not afraid of anything they've seen.
I was told that I would feel nothing the first time, I don't know how these cuts heal, but in you I found a rhyme.
If there is a light, you can't always see it, and there is a world, we can't always be, if there is a dark, now we shouldn't doubt, and there is a light, don't let it go out.
This is a song, for someone
You let me into a conversation, a conversation only we could make. you're breaking into my imagination, whatever's in there it's yours to take.
This is a song, for someone.
I didn't realize where I was going until I stopped my car. I sat in front of Preston's house, staring at the door. I got out and walked up the front steps, knocked, and waited a few seconds until his mom pulled he door open. "Hello Rob! What's up?" She asked, smiling. "Hi Mrs. Aresment. Is Preston home? I was kinda hoping to talk to him." I said as she ushered me inside. "Yes, he's in the back yard, I believe." She answered. "Thanks." I smiled, walked past her through the kitchen, and out the back doors.
Sure enough, when I looked around, I spotted Preston under the tree, reading by what little light we had left in the sky. I started walking towards him, and his head snapped up when he noticed me. "Hey, what's- Robby? Are you okay?" He asked, closing his book and facing me as I sat down next to him. "Robby? Have you been... Are you crying?" He asked as a tear rolled down my cheek. I nodded, and he pulled me closer to him. "Shh, Robby, it's okay. I've got you." He soothed. I buried my face in his shoulder, clutching the soft fabric. He pulled me into his lap and rubbed my back. "What happened, Robby?" He asked. "Emily... Emily broke up with me." I cried, and Preston's jaw dropped. "No." He said, shock evident on his face. "Yeah. She's in love with a girl named Megan. I didn't want to stop her from being in love." I said, pulling my face from his chest. "Oh, Robby." Preston said, wrapping his arms tighter around me. "What did I do?" I whispered, and more tears fell. "Shh, Robby, you didn't do anything. You're perfect. She wasn't the one for you." Preston said, and I felt my face start to heat up. He called me perfect. "Really?" I asked, looking up at him. "Of course. I can see it, always have. If she can't, then she isn't right for you." Preston said. "Thank you, Preston." I said, curling up to him and resting my head on his other shoulder. "No problem Robby. Anything for you." He answered. I smiled a little, and I closed my eyes, not realizing how tired I was. "Tired, Robby?" Preston asked. I slowly nodded. "Go to sleep. You can stay here tonight, we can go back to your house in the morning and you can get ready for school." He said, pulling me closer in his arms. "Thank you. Goodnight." I whispered. "Goodnight, Robby. Sleep well." He answered. I listened to his heartbeat, and slowly sleep overcame me. But that last thing I remembered was a pair of lips on my forehead, and a mumbled "You really are perfect" from the boy who held me.
