A/N: I'm gonna clear some questions!
1.) No, Jerome didn't see Mitch's father when Mitch was yelling. He was with Victory and Hope and Brandon.
2.) Yeah... Emma was based of me. She was like me mostly... and the aspects of myself that I didn't like, I changed to make her the better person.
%Brandon's POV%
Everything seemed grey. Dark. Mat was the only person who made it somewhat better. He knew me well enough to be able to cheer me up for a little while at a time. Victory and Mitch were with me a lot too, but I don't think Mat ever left my side. I couldn't thank him enough.
I couldn't talk more then two minutes at a time. To anyone. Only Mat, for some reason. I told him exactly what I was thinking, because he was the only one who would really listen and understand. I told him that it was strange; how five minutes earlier she was in my arms and I kissed her and told her she was okay. How everything was perfect before that split second that sent all of our lives spiraling downward. Also, her last words to me constantly rang through my mind. Move on, look for Someone else. But don't look too far. Someone close loves you more then you think. Who is close to me and loves me, like Emma did? The only ones I could think of were Vic and Hope, because I wasn't sure of their statuses with Jason and Kenny. But sometimes when I thought about it, a tiny voice in the back of my mind screamed one name: Mat.
Things were all good yesterday, and then the devil took your memory. And if you fell to your death today, I hope that heaven is your resting place. I heard the doctors put your chest in pain, but then that could've been the medicine. And now your lying in the bed again, either way I'll cry with the rest of them.
And my father told me son, it's not his fault he doesn't know your face, and your not the only one, although my grandma used to say, he used to say...
The more I tried to talk to Mitch, or comfort Vic, the more I wanted nothing more then to be away from it all, back in my room with Mat by my side. Even though he'd never had a girlfriend, he could somehow easily relate to the pain of losing one. I thought Rob would be some help, after breaking it with Emily and all... but no. He didn't really lose her. They were still best friends. But I wouldn't ever see Emma's smiling face again. Never hear her adorable giggle. Never hear her beautiful voice singing beside me again.
Darling hold me in your arms the way you did last night, and we'll lie inside, a little while he wrote. I could look into your eyes until the sun comes up, and we're wrapped in light, and life, and love. Put your open lips on mine slowly let them shut, for they're designed to be together, oh. With your body next to mine, out hearts will beat as one, and we're set alight, we're afire love.
Emma's funeral was three days after the crash. I don't remember much, it was mostly a blur. Literally, have I was in tears the entire time. At the actual funeral, I sat close to the back behind all of Emma's family, and where the rest of the Pack was. Most of us were quiet the entire time, except Mitch was asked by Mrs. Cath to speak. So he went up, and I won't say he didn't shed a few tears and stumble over some words. Mitch talked and I struggled to not make much noise with my sobbing. I lowered my head and covered my mouth with Mat grabbed my hand and squeezed it, and I looked up at him. He gave me a small smile, to which I weakly tried to return. Mat leaned closer to me. "It's okay Brandon, I promise. She's in a better life now. I lo- I'm here for you." He whispered, and then sat up straight again. "Thank you." I whispered back. He smiled. "Anything for you, buddy."
Things were all good yesterday, and then the devil took your breath away. And now we're left here in the pain, black suit black tie standing in the rain. And now my family is one again, stapled together with the strangers and a friend. Came to my mind, I should paint it with a pen, six years old I remember when
My father told me son, it's not his fault he doesn't know your face, and your not the only one, although my grandma used to say, he used to say...
The rest of the Pack was going back to Emma's house with her family, but I didn't think I could survive that. When Mat and I stood up to leave, I grabbed his hand. "Can we... Can we go home?" I asked softly, looking at my feet. "Of course. I'll go talk to Mrs. Cath." Mat answered, leaving me to stand by his car as he walked towards where she was standing with Mitch and who I thought was Emma's step-brother Kobe. I watched as Mat talked to her, and she smiled sadly over his shoulder at me as she nodded at whatever he was saying. Soon, Mat came back over and we walked to his car. We drive home in silence, except for the car radio.
Mat pulled into my driveway and we walked into the house together, and I immediately went straight to my room, and shut the door behind me. I sat on the side of my bed, his my fave in my hands, and finally let myself really cry. Mat came in a few seconds later, and ran to my side once he saw me. "Oh, Brandon." he sighed, and rubbed my back. "I d-don't t-think I can do t-th-this every d-day." I stuttered. "You can. You have to, I need you." Mat said quietly. Needed me? "What?" I questioned, looking up at him. He blushed lightly, but then sighed again. "I can't lose someone else, Brandon. Especially not my best friend." he said. "O-Oh. I'm so s-sorry." "You don't need to apologize. Just... You are too important to me. I... I wouldn't be here without you." He said, giving me a small smile and leaning on my shoulder. "Thank you, Mat. I wouldn't be here without you either." I answered. Somehow, his voice calmed me down. And then a different voice ran through my mind. 'Someone close loves you more then you think.' I glanced to the boy at my side. Maybe that little voice in the back of my head was right.
