Chapter 9: Bubbly

=Mitch's POV=

Emma and I met up a block from school and started our daily walk together. Emma was super energetic, because she was very into the idea that Jerome walking to my locker with me was a sign that he liked me. I told her it wasn't, but she insisted that she was right. I guaranteed her that Jerome would've forgotten. We talked and laughed until we got to the front of the school, where Em stuck her arm out in front of me, making me stop. "Look!" She whispered. "What?" I asked, clearly not seeing what she was. "Blind much? The flagpoles!" She was still whispering. I looked to the flagpoles, which stood tall just outside the front doors to the school. I saw Dominic, Jamie, and Nick standing beside one. "What, it's Jamie, Dominic and Nick." I shrugged, and pulled her forward with me. "No! The other one, idiot!" I glanced to the second one, and saw another three boys. Jerome, Brandon, and their friend Lachlan stood there, laughing at something. "Oh." Was all I could manage. "Come on, Mitch!" Emma started pulling me over. "Em. Em! Chill, please?" I said, grabbing her arm and slowing her down. "They're gonna think you're insane." I said as she slowed and walked beside me. "But I am!" She whined. I grinned. "I know, but you don't want Brandon knowing that, right?" I said. "Shut up." But she couldn't hide the half blush, half from spreading across her face.

As we got closer, Em whispered in my ear. "Act like we don't notice them, just keep walking by. Got it?" She said, going back to walking straight. "Why?" I asked, but didn't disobey. "Just do it!" She commanded. We started between the two flagpoles, and out of the corner of my eye I saw Dominic and friends start towards us. "Mitch!" That wasn't the voice I was expecting. It was Jerome's. I turned, and so did Emma. "Hi, Jerome." I said, walking towards him. "You said I could walk with you, remember?" He asked, smiling. "Oh, uh, yeah. Sorry." I said, looking down. "No problem. You know Brandon, and Lachlan?" He asked, gesturing to each one as he said their names. Of course I knew them, the whole school did. "Nice to meet you both." I shook both their hands. "This is Emma." I pulled her next to me, noticing she was standing somewhat behind me. "Hi, Emma!" Jerome smiled. Lachlan smiled at her, while Brandon gave a little wave and looked away. Emma also gave a small wave, but she was smiling at Jerome and Lachlan. "So, shall we?" Jerome gestured to the front doors. "Yeah, sure." I started walking, Jerome and Lachlan stood on either side of me, while Brandon walked next to Emma behind us. As we walked by, I saw Dominic and Nick glaring at us, while Jamie was staring at Emma. He looked sad, compared to the dirty looks we were getting from the other two. I tried so hard to conceal my laughter. "You alright their, mate?" Lachlan said, his Australian accent clear. I nodded, then turned to Emma. "Did you see the look Jamie had just then?" I whispered. "Yes, oh my God that was amazing." She smiled at me. "He almost looked jealous." I said, then quickly turned so that she wouldn't yell at me. I could actually feel the glare I was getting from her.

It didn't take that long to get to my locker. We talked for a minute before the first bell rang. "Well, me and Lachy gotta get our stuff, so see you around?" Jerome asked. Brandon and Emma split to walk to Em's locker already. "Yeah, sure. Definitely." I answered. "Maybe you wanna sit with us at lunch? You can meet the rest of the boys?" Jerome asked. My jaw dropped. "No, that's okay. I mean, I would, but Emma-" "Victory and Emily will be there, those are Vikk and Rob's girlfriends." he said. "Wouldn't that be like, twelve of us?" I asked. "We'll make room." He smiled, and I just nodded. "So until lunch?" He asked. "Yeah, we'll be there." I answered, smiling. "See ya!" Jerome started walking away. "Oh! Thanks Jerome, thanks Lachlan." I called out after them. Jerome didn't hear me, but Lachlan did. "No problem, our pleasure." He yelled back, and turned and walked off with Jerome. My heart was beating extremely fast, and I didn't realize it until the two were out of my line of sight. I sighed, grabbed my stuff, and walked off to home room. I don't know what it was about him. When I was around him, I couldn't talk right, couldn't breathe right. I just hoped he couldn't see it.

It starts in my toes, makes me crinkle my noes, wherever it goes, I always know. You make me smile, please stay for a while, just take your time, wherever you go

Rain is falling hard on my window pane, but we are hiding in a safer place. Under covers staying dry and warm, you give me feelings that I adore

I've been asleep for a while now, you got me feeling like a child now, cause every time you hold me in your arms, I'm comfortable enough to feel your warmth

It's starts in my soul, then I lose all control, when you kiss my nose, the feeling shows. Cause you make me smile, baby just take your time, hiding my tight.
