+Preston's POV+

I sighed as Mat shook his head at himself in the mirror, and then turned to me. "I dunno, doods. I like the other one better." He said, adjusting it a little. "The first, second, third or fourth one?" Rob joked. "You know, you guys can chill out. Excuse me for wanting to look good on the night I'll remember high school by." Mat retorted, and turned back to the mirror. I groaned, and Mat walked away. "I'm gonna look for another tux!" He called over his shoulder. I buried my face in my hands and slumped back on the couch I was sitting on.

Rob jumped next to me, and I winced as he landed on my arm. "Hey Bae! Sorry bout that." He laughed, moving off my arm but putting his around my shoulders. Did he just say 'bae'? I thought. "Why, hello Robby." I giggled. "Mat's annoying meh." He complained. "Same. This will be his sixth tux he's tried on!" I whined, and Rob leaned on my shoulder. "All this and no date." He laughed. "Oh, I completely forgot he didn't have anyone!" I smirked, but then it faded. "What's wrong, Preston?" Rob saw the quick sadness in my eyes. "I also forgot that I didn't have anyone either." I said quietly, and Rob rubbed my shoulder. "Aw, it's okay dood. I don't have anyone either." He said. "Really?" How didn't I know that? "Yeah. But it's okay. I'm sure lots single people are going anyway." He said. "Well, duh. We're going." I smiled. Then Rob turned to face me. "Preston? This is gonna sound so awkward, but what if we went together... Like, as friends?"

My stomach flipped. "Um, sure! That would be nice." I smiled, a small blush growing on my face. "Really? You don't mind?" He asked, hopeful. "No, of course not! We save each other from being single I guess." I said. Rob smiled and blushed a little as well. "I mean, we aren't a couple, but like... We won't show up single.... I mean, we could be a couple, if you wanted that... yeah, We should just go together." I cringed at my own stupidity. Why can't I shut up? I practically just told him I liked him, I thought. "Yeah, okay. Glad I didn't need to do some huge Promposal." he smiled. "Me too." I answered, trying to rid the air of some of the awkwardness I'd created. "Whatcha think?" Mat was back in another tux, interrupting our conversation. "The best so far." Rob answered. "Agreed." I said. "Good. I think so too." he smiled at himself. "And way to leave me out of your stupid Prom bromance." Mat smirked as he walked away to change into his normal clothes. I blushed and glared at him, but Rob just laughed. "You're just mad I like Preston more then you!" Rob called, and Mat turned and subtly flipped him off. "Wow!" Rob continued laughing. I chuckled a little, but kept my face hidden from both of them. I was bright red, half because I was actually going to Prom with Rob, and half because I practically just straight out told him I loved him. And he either didn't care, or was trying not to show anything. I hoped that it was he was trying to hide it.

<After Mat finally gets his tux XD>

"Where to boys?" Rob asked as we left the small shop. "I'm not carrying this thing around." Mat said, holding the suit a little higher in his arms. "Why don't we just go back to my house?" I suggested. "Oka-" Mat was cut off my his phone ringing. He answered, and a minute, hung up again. "Never mind, boys. Mamma Nooch needs me. You two can go 'Bromance' it up at Preston's house though." Mat said, using air quotes. "Why the quotes?" I asked, and he smirked. "Everyone knows you two are bound to be more then a bromance. Look what happened to Vikk and Lachy." Mat answered as he opened Robs car door. "Uh, what?" I said. "Yeah, no. Nice try. Just because you want to be more then a bromance with Brandon doesn't mean every pair of best friends has to start going out." Rob retorted, making my jaw drop. "Excuse me what?" I asked quick. Mat ducked his head and Rob gave him a smug glance as they both got into the car. I got into the passenger seat beside Rob, while Mat hid in the back. As Rob pulled away from the shop, I started asking my questions. "Uh, is anyone gonna elaborate on what I just heard?" Rob smirked. "Whatcha say, Mat?" Mat glanced up at me, eyes wide. "I-I've.... Liked Brandon for a while." Mat mumbled. I smiled bigger then I ever have before. "Oh my God! Why didn't you tell me?" I squealed. "Yeah. I only told Rob. But look where keeping quiet got me." He said, leaning back and staring out the window. Then I realized what he meant. Emma.

"Oh, Mat. I'm sorry." I said, giving him a sad smile. "And she's perfect for him! They're freaking adorable. He loves her so much. Hell, I love the damn girl! She's the best for him, I need to drop it. But I can't." Mat looked like he might cry. All I could do was reach back and rub his knee. "I know your pain." I mouthed, and he gave me a confused look. I shook my head and gave him a small smile, and he used his eyes to gesture to Rob. I looked away casually, and Mat sighed. "Sucks. Really sucks." He said, and the three of us fell into an awkward silence. I turned on the radio in hopes to make it better.

I don't have much to give but I don't care for gold, what use is money when you need someone to hold? Don't have direction I'm just rolling down this road, waiting for you to bring me in from out the cold.

You'll never know the endless nights, the rhyming of the rain, or how it feels to fall behind, and watch you call her name.

Pack up and leave everything, dont you see what I can bring, can't keep this beating heart at bay. Set my midnight sorrow free, I will give you a of me, just leave your lover, leave her for me.

We sit in bars and raise our drink to growing old, oh I'm in love with you, but you will never know. But if I can't have you, I'll walk this life alone, spare you the rising storms and let the rivers flow.

Leave your lover, leave her for me

We pulled up to Mat's house, and he picked up his stuff and left. "Bye boys! See you later!" He said, and walked to his front door. As Rob started pulling away, Mat turned and winked at me. "Good luck." He mouthed, and I glared at him. He laughed as he walked into his house. "Poor Mat." Rob sighed. "I know. That's a horrible feeling." I commented, glancing at Rob. "You've been through it?" He asked, looking concerned. I'm going through it. "No. I can only imagine." I answered. If only he knew.
