(A/N: Still keep in mind I have no idea how prom works lol XD ~Rosie <3)
=Mitch's POV=
Jerome, Emma and I were chatting with Kenny and Jason, trying to get to know them, when we were interrupted by the DJ. "Rodgers High students! All through the night, you've all been voting for the prom King and Queen!" He announced, and the crowd cheered.
My eyes widened in interest as the student body president walked up to the stage with two envelopes in her hand. "The voted have been cast, and the total is in. I have them here." Ally was her name, I think. "So let's not waste any time." Ally slowly started to open the first envelope, and everyone anxiously awaited to hear the name that would be called. "This years prom queen is... Lillian Chisto!" Ally announced, and people cheered. Lillian was a popular cheerleader, so no surprise there. Lillian walked up beside Ally, who placed a fake tiara on her head. Lillian had the biggest smile, as if she'd just won an Oscar. And with the amount of acting and drama she stirs up, I wouldn't be surprised if that was her future. In fact, I think she was one of the girls who asked Jerome to prom.
"Congratulations Lillian! Now it's time to see who the prom King is!" Ally chirped as she ripped open the second envelope. "And the prom king is... Jerome Aceti!" Kenny, Jason, Emma and I all jumped on Jerome, who looked really confused. "You won!" Emma yelled, and Jason and Kenny laughed. "C'mon up, Jerome!" Ally waved to the stage where she stood. We got off him and he walked through the crowd to the stage, where Ally placed another fake crown on Jerome's head. Lillian now looked like she was about to get a million dollars and that Oscar. I think because she'd be dancing with Jerome in a matter of seconds.
"Dood, Lilli's gotta dance with Jerome, you know that, right?" Emma whispered to me. I shrugged. "Whatever. I don't care, I thought that had a chance of happening." I answered, and she skeptically nodded. "It's not like I want to go out there and dance anyway." I added, and she grinned. "I don't blame you." She agreed. Lillian, a little too excitedly, strutted over to Jerome and grabbed his arm, and smiled all too brightly at her cheerleading groupies. Ally clapped her hands. "Now, as usual, the king and queen dance. But this year, they'll actually dance with their dates."
Guess it's true I'm not good at a one night stand, but I still need love cause I'm just a man. these nights never seem to go to plan, i don't want to leave will you hold my hand?
I felt the blood drain from my face. Emma held in a laugh, and I felt Jason and Kenny's hands my shoulders. Lillian looked outraged. Jerome and Lilli walked down the stage steps, Jerome heading for me while Lilli was escorted to the center of the floor by the captain of the basketball team. Jerome made it to the four of us, and he held his hand out. I heard people whisper, saying things like "He came with Emma Cath?" Or "Who even is that?" Jerome smiled, and loud enough for most to hear, asked me to dance. "Mitch?" People gasped, and I shyly nodded. I grabbed his hand and he spun me into the middle of the floor.
Oh, won't you, stay with me, cause you're all I need. This ain't love, it's clear to see, but darling, stay with me.
We danced for a minute in silence, surrounded by the whispers of the people around us. Lillian was shooting daggers at me every time I made eye contact with her. "Jerome... You should've asked Emma or something." I said quietly, not moving my glance from our feet. "Why? You are my date, you know." I could hear the stupid smile on his face. "But everyone knows. People are already whispering." I answered. "I do t care. I have you, it shouldn't matter what the others think." He lifted my chin up so I stared into his eyes. "B-But you... are popular, with a good reputation, and-" He pressed his lips on mine, and I heard another chorus of gasps behind us. "Stop talking, Mitch." Jerome smirked, and I couldn't hide a small laugh.
Why am I so emotional? No it's not a good look gain some self control. And deep down I know this never works, but can you lay with me so it doesn't hurt.
"This is like, the best night ever." I mumbled, and Jerome chuckled. "I know. I'm the freaking King!" He said with a smile. "And I might as well be. That's what I feel like right now." I answered. "Aw!" Jerome kissed my lips again. "You're the cutest." he said, making me blush. "Especially now." He added, which darkened the shade of pink my cheeks had turned. He laughed and pecked my lips once more, and this time, I heard something besides the gasps. "You go Merome!" It was Victory. "Yeah, you guys are the cutest!" Emily joined. Megan clapped and cheered, along with Hope. Vikk and Lachlan joined, then Kenny and Jason. Emma was laughing, but gave me a huge smile and thumbs up as I looked her way. Within seconds, the one thing I never thought would happen, happened.
Everyone was cheering. Well, almost everyone. Lillian and her squad of followers were as pissed as ever on the edge of the floor. I let out a small laugh, but then hid my face in Jerome's shoulder. "Mitch..." He whispered. "They're clapping for you." He said, and I shook my head. "For you." He backed away with both hands on my shoulders, and I looked up at him. "For us." He said, to which I nodded. "For us."
"Get Vikk and Lachy out here. Em and Meg." I said, only seconds later. "If I'm not hiding, they shouldn't be." I said with a smirk. "Grab Em and Meg." He said, walking away from me. I ran over to where the two were standing, hand in hand, and started pulling them out into the middle of the floor. A circle of people had formed around Jerome and I, so all I had to do was get them out. "Come on!" I grabbed their hands and dragged them out, and they were both blushing and laughing. "You know how to dance." I smirked, and then turned back to Jerome, who was staring smugly at the dancing Vikk and Lachlan. I wrapped my arms over his shoulders. "Nice." He spun and placed his hands on my hips. "Ditto." He smiled. I looked around at all the other couples, watching the six of us. "What are you all waiting for? Get out here!" I yelled, and soon, we were all lost in the sea of seniors dancing with their dates. Even Emma was dancing, even though Brandon left after Mat. Emma was beside a boy who I think was named Tyler. He had think black glasses and dirty blonde hair, just like she did. They almost looked like twins.
I looked around again at all the couples dancing, then smiled up at Jerome. "Like I was saying. Best night ever." He grinned, and kissed my cheek. "I love you, Mitch." "I love you too, Jerome."
Oh won't you, stay with me? Cause you're all I need. This ain't love, it's clear to see, but darling, stay with me.
