**Mat's POV**
I don't see the big deal about prom. Sure, it would probably be so much better if the boy I was in love with wasn't here with a girl. Now that I think about it.... that's kinda the only reason prom sucks. But I can't be angry. Brandon is so madly in love with Emma. And I want him to be happy, because not only do I love him, but he's my best friend. Even though I was the opposite of happy, it didn't matter, as long as he was.
I'm building this house, on the moon, like a lost astronaut. Looking at you, like a star, from a place the world forgot. And there's nothing that I came do, except bury my love for you.
Prom didn't have much time left, and yet I sat alone at the table, watching Vikk and Lachlan, who were slow dancing to some song. I almost envied them, along with Mitch and Jerome, and even Preston and Rob. They loved their best friends, and their best friends loved them back. Yet here I was, internally crying over my best friend and his girlfriend. I'm so pathetic.
The brightness of the sun, will give me just enough, to bury my love, in the moon dust. I long to heard your voice, but still i make the choice, to bury my love, in the moon dust.
"Noochems, whatcha doing?" Brandon sat down next to me, and I sighed. He would be the one to try to help. "Nothing." I answered bluntly. "C'mon, Matty. I know you better than that." Brandon said, putting a hand on my shoulder. I brushed it off quickly. "I'm fine." I assured. "No, you aren't." He replied instantly. "Where's Emma?" I tried to change the subject. "Looking for Mitch. Stay on topic." He said, making me sigh. "Brandon, in all honestly, I'm not okay. But I'm living with it. Now isn't the time to deal with it anyways. Go dance with Em, or banter around with Jerome, or spy on Vikk and Lachlan to catch them making out. Anything but stay here... Please." I started loud, but my voice slowly drifted to a whisper. "Mat, I'm not going anywhere unless you come with me. Or at least smile." He said, poking my ribs. I let out a small laugh. "There's the laugh!" Brandon cheered at his small victory. "Brandon, please." I shoved him a little, and moved over a seat. "Mat... I... Why are you upset? I wanna help." "I..." I almost want to tell him. I almost want to spill out everything to him. Scream at him, tell him he's the best thing and the world to me and how much I loved him. Tell him how much I'm suffering without having him in my arms every night. But I can't do that.
"Matty! What's up, you look sad." Emma took the now empty seat between Brandon and I, the one I just moved out of. "Little jag won't tell me." Brandon complained, crossing his arms over his chest. "Nothing. Is. Wrong. Okay? I'll be fine." I was actually a little annoyed. Brandon trying to help hurt, but Emma sitting next to me was salt in the wound.
Don't get me wrong. I loved Emma. She was smart, funny, and sweet. And loved Brandon to pieces. Then again, so did I. But she was a better match for him. So I sat back and watched.
"I-I've gotta go." I stood suddenly, making both Brandon and Emma jump. "Wh-Where are you going?" Brandon's stood with me. "Home. Anywhere but here." I muttered. "Don't go, Mat!" Emma frowned, pulling at my arm. "I can't stay here right now, I... I don't feel good." I lied. "Mat, come on. Preston and Rob left, can't lose anyone else!" Brandon whined, trying to stop me. I glanced over my shoulder at Emma as I walked, and when I turned back, I walked flat into Brandon, who decided to block my path. "Brandon, please..." I whispered, I was running out of time. Before I completely broke down. Either he heard it in my voice or saw it in my eyes, but he let me go. "Thank you." I whispered, and ran to my car.
Nothing can breathe, in the space, colder than the darkest sea. I have dreams about the day, driving through your sunset breeze. But the first thing, that I will do, is bury my love for you.
(A/N: maybe a little bit depressing here ;-; ~Rosie)
I got in and drove to my house, which was empty. Thank god. My mom and dad must've gone out, thinking I wouldn't be him until later. I went straight up into my room and flopped onto my bed, and finally, let myself go.
I cried into the pillows for a few minutes as the night's events finally settled in my mind. I kept flashing back, seeing Brandon's face lit up as Emma made a comment on something. Seeing his faint blush as Emma kissed his cheek. Watching him kiss her back. I sighed at my own stupidity, and then pulled off my jacket. The tie followed, and then my shirt. I changed into sweatpants, and then looked down at myself. No wonder he doesn't like you, I thought.
I wandered from my room to the bathroom, and glanced at myself in the mirror. I looked terrible. My hair had gone back to its normal glob of black curls. My eyes were red and puffy, clear from the crying. I couldn't bare to look at myself, the negativity in my head just kept listing the reasons I stood in this position. I was sad, lonely, and pathetic.
I looked back to the mirror again. My own reflection seemed to be telling me to give up. Just let everything slip. I've debated trying before. Feeling the blood down my arm and the quick sharp pain of the blade. No, I told myself. You can't do this. Stay strong. For him. Even though he'd never know, he's never care. Today might be the day I give in.
I'm a cast away, and men reap what they sow, and I say what I know to be true. Yeah, I'm living far away, on the face of the moon, I've buried my love to give the world to you.
I held it. I held the silver to my wrist. I just stared at myself in the mirror, seeing the shiny glint of the metal in the reflection.
I dropped it and punched the mirror. I cried out as my reflection shattered, and the glass scattered around me. "No!" I curled into a ball on the bathroom floor, surrounded in the shards, and let the tears fall again. Blood dripped from my fist, but not that much, so I didn't mind. I just lay there, until something -someone- opened the bathroom door. "Mat?"
His voice made me want to curl up into myself and disappear completely. "Mat, please answer me." He whispered, leaning down to me. "Brandon... Why... Why are you hear?" I choked out. "Oh my god." He pulled me up and into his chest, hugging me tightly. "Thank you." He said, leaning his head on my shoulder. "W-What?" I didn't understand. "I-I thought... I thought you... Oh my god." He couldn't even finish a whole sentence. "B-Brandon... Where's E-Em? Why aren't you at p-prom?" I stuttered out. "You really think I'd let you go? I know you all to well, Mat. I knew something was really wrong, and I wasn't going to just sit there. Oh, god though. When I came in and heard the glass shatter, oh my god." He whispered, and started playing with my hair. "Stop." I pushed him away. "Huh?" He looked confused. "Just... Just go back. I'm fine." I said softly, unable to hold back a couple small tears. "You aren't fine! I found you in a pile of shattered glass, Mat! You're crying now, too. Mat, what is it?" He moved towards me again, but I kept backing up. "Leave me alone." I whispered. "Mat, I'm not leaving you like this." Brandon replied stubbornly. "I said I'm fine!" I screamed, and I could tell he was taken back by this. "Mat... Please.... I care about you and I can't look at you like this. It's painful." Brandon said quietly, looking at the glass pieces. "I just want you to be okay." He whispered, and his voice breaking at the end.
"Brandon..." I fling myself at him and cried into his shoulder. "I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. I didn't mean to break that, or scare you like I did, or make you cry. I'm so sorry. I don't deserve a friend like you." "Shh, Noochem, it's alright. We're both okay." Brandon cooed, trying to calm me down. "Now what do you say we get your hand and all this glass cleaned up, then go to sleep. Its been a long day, Noochems." I nodded, and pulled myself off of him.
We got everything cleaned up and wrapped my hand in bandages, and then I jumped into bed. "Goodnight, Mat. Sleep well, I'll come by in the morning?" Brandon smiled, leaning in the doorway. "You could... You could stay the night, if you wanted?" I offered, and Brandon smiled. "Of course I do." He said, and pulled a pair of my sweatpants from my drawer. "I'll go change, and then I'll be on the couch of you need me-" "Please stay with me." I said quietly, and he hesitantly nodded. "Okay. Ill be right back." He said, and disappeared from the door.
A few minutes later Brandon crawled into the bed beside me, and I curled up to him. "Night, Noochem." Brandon said softly. I smiled. "Night, Brandon."
