=Mitch's POV=
<Prom Night! Yay!>
"Aw! Look at you!" My mom smiled as I stood in front of the mirror. "My little boy, all grown up and going to senior prom! With his boyfriend!" She continued gushing as I fixed my white jacket. I was all suited up in a white tux, while Jerome would be in black. "Mom, please. You weren't this bad for junior prom with Emma." I smiled a little. "Because Emma isn't your girlfriend! And that was junior! This is senior, and you have a boyfriend!" She exclaimed. "Yeah, I do mom. And he's probably gonna be here soon." I grinned at her, and she laughed. "Give me a break, Mitchy. I just can't believe my baby boy is all grown up." "You just wait until graduation day." I answered, and she put her hand to her heart. "Oh, don't remind me."
"Mitchy! The door!" My mom called. "He's here?" I answered quietly as I stepped into the living room. "Yeah, you ready?" She smiled. "Uh, I think." I answered nervously. My mom walked over and put her hands on my shoulders. "No need to be nervous, Mitvhy. It's just a dance." She said, then went to open the door. I stood a few feet behind her. "Hello, Jerome!" She greeted. "Hi, Mrs. Hughes." He answered. I stepped into view, so Jerome could see me over my mothers shoulder. He smiled, and my mom stepped out of the way. I walked out onto the front porch, and I smiled shyly at him. "Wow, Mitch. You look... Wow." He said, unable to find the right words. "You look wow yourself." I grinned. He was in a black suit, shoes, and had two small red flowers in the jacket pocket. "Oh!" He pulled a flower from his pocket and put it in mine. "We match!" He laughed. "Yes we do. Now should we get-" "Wait!" My mom cut me off and ran back inside my house. I sighed, but Jerome smiled. "I love her. She's an awesome mom." Jerome said. "Yeah, I guess. Maybe a little over-attached though." I answered, sighing again as my mom came back with her camera. "Mom, do not get the camera!" I whined, but she shook her head. "Get together. Just a few pictures?" She asked, and I shook my head. Jerome however, pulled me closer by putting his arm around my waist. "C'mon, Mitch. It won't kill." He smirked at me. "But I hate pictures!" I whined. "Well, you look great in front of the camera. And so do I." He joked, and my mom laughed. "Wow." I said, but straightened up for the photoshoot my mom was about to take. Jerome and I smiled and she snapped away, adjusting us after every few clicks. "Last one!" She said, and I rolled my eyes. I smiled as I glanced up to Jerome, who also had a huge grin on his face. "Three... Two... One!" As my mom counted the last number, Jerome quickly leaned down to kiss me. When he backed away, he was smiling bigger. "That was adorable! Now you two better get going, don't wanna be late to prom!" Mom chirped, putting her camera down. She quickly hugged me. "Have fun!" She said, pushing me back to Jerome. "Bye Mom!" "Bye Mrs. Hughes!" Jerome and I both called, then walked down the front steps and to Jerome's car.
As we left my house and started towards the school, even though it wasn't far away, Jerome glanced at me. "Mitch biggums?" He asked. "Yeah buddy?" I answered. "We're going to Prom!" He cheered. "Yeah, we are." I breathed, staring out the window. "You okay?" He asked, moving a hand to my knee. "Yeah, I guess. Just... I'm still not exactly a social person, you know? There's gonna be a lot of people at prom... none of them like me... Because I'm gay and all." I said quietly. He moved his hand from my knee and locked it with my own. "Look, who are you going to prom with?" He asked. I gave him a strange look as I answered, "You." He nodded. "So what does that make me?" He asked. "Oh, I get it Jerome. But you're you. I'm me." I answered. He was saying that he's gay too, but people liked him just fine. "C'mon, Mitch. We are all the same." He smiled at me. "Jerome, I'm nothing like you. We both know it. Everyone does." I answered sadly. I would love to be like Jerome, adorable, smart, athletic, sweet, strong. Everything I'll never be. "I don't care whether you're exactly like me, or the polar opposite. I love you either way." Jerome ended the argument. I sighed. "I love you too."
The dawn is breaking, a light shining through, you're barely waking, and I'm tangled up in you.
But I'm open, your closed, where I follow, you'll go. I worry I won't see your face light up again.
Even the best fall down some times, even the wrong words seem to rhyme, out of the doubt that fills my mind, I somehow find, you an I collide.
I'm quiet, you know, you make a first impression, I've found I'm scared to know, I'm always on your mind.
Even the best fall down some times, even the stars refuse to shine, out of the back you fall in time, and I somehow find, that you and I collide.
Don't stop here, I've lost my place, I'm close behind.
And I finally find, you and I collide.
