Lissa's Pov.
I looked behind, searching for a shadow to jump out anytime and save me.
I reached the outer wall of the city where the dark forest starts just before Princess Mathilda.
Only Princess and few of her guards arrived at the dawn, The King and The Queen were perhaps too busy to show their faces.
General Cameron was dressed in all black outfit just like me but he looked more at eased with the weapons then I was.
He has dressed himself with all the weapons he could carry. Bow, arrows, knives, sword and a whip were the visible weapons.
Only God knew how much more he carried.
The forest looked like it would swallow us whole of we dared to enter.
"You go ahead, I'll follow you from behind" general Cameron said as we passed the first treeline.
"Umm, I don't understand why..."
"Just move, you don't have to understand anything about what I do."
"Okay" I nodded.
I started my walk, humming to myself. Humming always helped, it kept me calm and focused.
I heard footsteps behind me and smiled. He was following me just as he said he would.
The tension left my body and I became careless. I knew he would protect me if the situation arise but till then, I enjoyed my surroundings.
The forest was beautiful. It did not seem that dangerous but I knew looks could deceive.
Different shades of green were looming on various trees, which was hard to decipher which was which.
I couldn't recognise some trees and flowers which was lot to say because I was a master in the subject of vegetation.
Maybe I could study the dark forest while I'm here.
I have forgotten the reason why it was called the dark forest untill I turned and saw him standing behind me.
And then I screamed.
