Mathilda's pov.

I waited for him for three days and nights.

He promised he would be back in no time and then we would elope.

But he hasn't showed up yet and now my patience was at its peak.

My father always said that I don't have a lot of patience, which would lead to my downfall.

He might be right but it wasn't like he was going to let me rule, so it doesn't matter.

"Why are you standing here princess?" Ann questioned.

She was like a ghost in the castle. No one knew where or when she can stumble upon your secret meeting or in your personal life.

People called her 'ghost queen'.

I turned and saw her walking towards me.

She came and stood before me, waiting and assessing.

"I'm a taking a scroll in the garden, but what are doing here Ann?"

I purposely skipped her title as the Queen.

Her stolen title.

She killed my mother and married my father. She ruined my father and my kingdom too.

I didn't had any concrete proof, obviously. But I knew she was the one who killed my mother.

My father was a compassionate king once, a good father and a loving husband but she havocked our lives.

"It is Queen Ann for you, my dear" she said sarcastically.

"Well, if we are going for official titles then it is Princess Mathilda for you."

I said and waited for a moment before adding "also, don't forget to bow before me, queen consort Ann."

"Fine, if that's what your fragile ego needs" she said and bowed drastically.

"Yes, my ego is quite satisfied now. Tell me, why are you following me like a puppy?"

"I was just worried about you, my dear" Ann said, her voice dipped in honey, but I have been dealing with her for years and knew the fake worries she claimed to have.

"I'm alright mother, thank you for caring so much"

I answered her with the same tone, full of fakeness and sarcasm.

She turned and walked away, but I could not stop the vines of dread which had enslaved my heart.

I really hoped to see Cam again.

To lie with him under the stars and moon.

To laugh with him in a dark crook of the castle.

To steal pieces of sweets from the kitchen.

I really needed him alive.
